It must have been a very gross oversight.<br /><br />I have a funny story: when Buddy was in Kindergarten, the teacher had a rule right at the start of the year - you invite everyone of the same gender to your party or do not have a party at all. She must have seen some drama. Anyway, Buddy and another boy shared a birthday by one day. So, I got an early jump on things and sent out invites to all of the boys (there were only five of them, Buddy included) over a week prior to the party date. <br /><br />Well, the mother of the other birthday boy sends out invites a day or two later - for the same time! The exact same date and time! And asks for an RSVP. So I call her up, and explain, we&#39;re having Buddy&#39;s party right then, did she know that or perhaps her kid didn&#39;t bring home his invite?<br /><br />&quot;Oh, no&quot; she said &quot;I knew exactly that you were having his party then, that&#39;s why I picked the same time. This way you can have some guests and I can have some guests, we can split the kids and won&#39;t have to deal with too many boys!&quot;<br /><br />Okay, first, could you not have asked me to do this? Second, now put the boys in the position of choosing which party to attend? Third, you&#39;ve booked some fabulous event at Ruckers and although I have fabulousness planned, it&#39;s at home and nobody knows me well enough yet in this circle of parents to realize that it will be pretty cool, so they actually think a home party sounds lame compared to an afternoon at the play arcade, so guess who&#39;s going to pick what party?<br /><br />Finally, there are only FIVE boys in the class!!! Take the two birthday boys out of the equation, and only three guests are left at all.<br /><br />We scrapped our party plans. Buddy was crushed but we did something cool as a family and then I had a &quot;Pirate Party&quot; for him and his friends a couple of weeks later. <br /><br />Gah. Some people.
