There was a tree this year and it was up until yesterday. Truly, really, for sure. Yesterday. That's halfway through January for those of you keeping track. It was pretty but it didn't really need to be up for that long, now did it?
About the neon pink feather star on top, she's pretty sure that Veto neither cared nor noticed but in either case it makes him even more endearing to her than he already is since he never complained about it once. Not even when he had to sit under it watching football.
Saucy and Loopy recycled ornaments from a tree they put up in Loopy's room a few years back. Trees in multiple rooms seemed like way too much work this year. They pulled out stuff and bits from all the boxes. All the boxes, people. There are a lot of boxes. At least they're sorted and labeled pretty decently.
As Saucy admires the photos, she realizes that most everything on the tree is from the Dollar Store or the Michaels dollar bins from not so long ago.
She kept her wrapping theme in shades of pink, green, turquoise and other brights. Almost all of the paper came from Wal Mart. Plus, Saucy saves her bows. It's a sickness. Do you save your bows?
Clearly, Saucy needs to get the hang of her new camera. It's a load heavier than the old one and she hasn't played with it but she's happy that it captures more light than the old Rebel. It's kind of like starting over... for now these shots seem a little snap-shotty.
Wow... two blog posts in two days. Saucy might just be back in the groove, or maybe she's on a roll. She does want you to do two things for her to mark the occasion:
One, raise your hand if you recycle bows or leave your tree up too long.
Two, tell Saucy about your shame... if it isn't old bows and dusty decor.

I took my tree down on Saturday...so don't feel too bad. Just tell everyone you kept it up for Ukrainian New Years.

It's good to see you back! Love the decorations on your tree so can well understand why you didn't want to take it down. And yes, I'm not ashamed to admit, I recycle bows, too. They're too expensive for their few minutes of fame, otherwise. :)
I might have left a few trees up for a year. They also might still be up right now.
What an adorable tree! I finally blogged on Monday and saw your awesome post on the Golden Globes and loved it. Welcome back. Grace xoox
So glad you are back Saucy! I am relieved to know that you are ok! Your peeps have been worried...
Yes, I save bows! When I was growing up we saved paper as well. It became a really fun part of our Christmas to see the old papers reused and recycled sometimes over and over again... getting smaller each year. We loved to revisit the past treats and trinkets that each paper had so lovely wrapped.
Love your tree!
I like the hot colors on your tree. And I'm a bow-saver, too.
Doesn't everyone save their bows? Why would you throw away perfectly good bows?!?
My shame is that my card angel hasn't been put away in three years. I take her down, remove all of the Christmas cards and then set her safely on the stack of clothes that i have been meaning to take to goodwill. She's large and has to be specially wrapped so i put it off and put it off and suddenly it is December and time to hang her again.
My friends tree is still up and she is still decorating it!! She keeps it up until Valentine's Day!!!! Boxes and boxes of bows...keep the blogs coming you have been missed!
I used to recycle bows, but now I buy the big spools of wired ribbon from Costco and use them on my gifts - LOVE big ribbon bows :) And, my tree just came down Saturday - it stays up until it gets annoying and this year, it didn't feel cluttered at all :)

Last year was the great tree standoff at my house...the deal was I put it up, HE puts it away. It stayed up until Feb when I caved. I too recycle bows, bags, boxes....who doesn't ;)
You're on a roll, dear Saucy!
Phew; when I saw the blog title I actually said "OH NO, she hit a tree". Knowing your luck with vehicles, it made perfect sense. I'm glad I was wrong though!
I used to recycle bows, but now I just recycle gift bags. A lot. I don't use bows anymore, unless they're for a special present that I'm taking somewhere. My family, as much as I love them, are uncaring about the visual presentation, and I don't tend to waste bows (or much time) on pretty wrapping anymore.
Pretty tree! Veto is one secure gent (like he has a choice) to sit close to such a pretty pink-ly decked out Christmas tree. Kudos on many levels!
Bows? Ribbons? Aren't those things for gifts you give away? I tried recycling bows but they just got schmucked so I threw them away & the ribbons return to the craftroom for re-use in projects.
Beautiful tree! We are getting ready for our Valentine's tree now that we are 1 month away...
Welcome back! We missed you!
Your tree is beautiful!
My current shame is that my boxes are still sitting in my living room patiently waiting to be tucked away for next christmas! I fear if my tree was fake it would still be up!!!
Saucy, I too had my tree up until the same day you did. Life just kept HAPPENING - you know? No shame!! And I just realized I have not paid you and Loopy yet - gawd!!!! I will put it on my list of things to do - so sorry!!! Dena
Oh yeah, I'll admit it--I'm a bow saver,er, recycler too! Really it is being kind to the earth.
