Ooooh, I so desperately want that mag. So excited that you are going to be in it. What a delightful surprise!

Do I have to pick just one favourite tradition? There are so many ... I guess it would have to be the music - at home, at church, in the stores, on the radio, etc. I can't sing worth a darn, but I love to hear others.

My favorite holiday tradition is when we draw names off of the angel tree and buy gifts for less fortunate kids. My sons are now grown and they love the spirit of giving. When they were small we would also give them a bag to donate gently used toys they no longer played withto make room for new gifts from Santa. My oldest son would always get carried away and try to give all of his toys away and I would have to help him. Through the years we have been the less fortunate and we have been more fortunate, but we realize we are always blessed.

One of my fave traditions (that EVERYONE thinks I am crazy for) is putting my tree up and totally decorating my house for Christmas on November 1st. Every year. The hubs doesnt even say anything anymore. Can't wait, the new tree (one of a few in the house) is bought and ready to be put up!

wow this looks like a very yummy and inspiration filled book!!
My favorite (new) tradition is getting my kids an ornament each year to put on the tree. The plan is that when they are older they will have a great and meaningful collection for their own trees!

You are so generous!
I love to hide a pickle ornament on the Christmas tree for my children to look for on Christmas morning. The one who finds it gets a special gift.

I love to torment my children every year by only allowing them to open one gift on Christmas Eve and it is ALWAYS pajamas, even though they complain, I think they secretly like the tradition of it.

My favourite holiday tradition is purchasing new ornament representing a theme or major event of the past year. The year we were in Hawaii, we got a hula angel. For our first major camping holiday, a flamingo, the ultimate (travel) trailer trash accessory. I have one for every year of Lizzie's life, which I did intend to give to her for her first tree, but I may end up keeping!!

My favorite holiday tradition is when everyone gathers down by the fireplace to open their stockings. Santa remembers everyone, even the adults, and we dig in individually. It's neat to see what each person gets and yes, we have had a couple of instances where a certain person has received a lump of coal. No names, of course! Tina S

I love my husband's family's tradition of opening presents youngest to oldest. Sometimes it takes for EVER to open presents on at a time this way but it's also neat to see what everyone gets and teaches the kids patience and to thank the appropriate giver for EACH AND EVERY gift. :)

There are so many traditions that we have, its hard to pick just one... anything from going out and hunting for the perfect tree, to sending Santa an e-mail (wish list)! But I guess if I had to pick one, it would be the tradition that we have continued from my childhood, with my kids- we climb in the car on Christmas Eve and bundle up the kids under blankets in their Christmas jammies, with yummy mugs of hot cocoa, and drive around listening to our favorite Holiday tunes and looking at Christmas lights, until the car becomes warm and toasty and the kids fall asleep. Then we come home and put them into bed to wait for Santa's arrival!

Favorite holiday tradition is making koŇāduny (Polish meat dumpling) on Christmas eve. It was always quite the family affair as around 100 of these dumplings were prepared with each person manning a station. My sister calls them "belly bombs", and since the family is spread out and doesn't always get together at the holidays, it's a tradition that doesn't see much practice anymore. Thanks for making me think of this wonderful memory.

Christine

P.S. I really had to chuckle at the wallpaper post...sounds like my stream of thought. ;-)

Congrats, Saucy, on your featured status. How exciting!

My favorite tradition is getting to open just one present on Christmas Eve, which is always new jammies to wear that very night.

(I was going to say bungee-ing the tree to the wall so the cats don't knock it over, but that's not nearly as charming.)

I would like to enter. My favorite tradition is the whole day after Thanksgiving spent decorating the tree with Grandma's expensive Radko ornaments.

So many favorite memories we have made as a family but would have to say for the little ones it is getting to go shopping and pick out their own Christmas wrapping paper and putting it out for Saint Nick to take on Saint Nicks day so he can wrap their presents in it for Christmas. Prior to it being given to Saint Nick two presents for each child are wrapped with it and put under the tree to enjoy looking at up until Christmas Eve when they got to open them...always pajamas and a small gift or game for the family to play that night. Would truly love to win this for more ideas to enhance our families holiday. saturdaysmail at yahoo dot com

Favorite holiday tradition? That's easy. Any holiday.
Eating.
With family and friends - everyone always pulls out traditional recipes, long-time favorites, or makes special treats. Each time of year they're always different, so I can't just pick one.
But, definitely - sitting in a kitchen or living room and tasting the holiday is my favorite.
