corners of our home

Come inside, the weather isn't pleasant to be outdoors.

The rain continues almost every day around here. The cushions for the patio furniture are tucked away in the shed and the pool has overflown more than once. It's like living in a tropical rainforest.

Inside, there are wild flowers on the counter that Buddy Budderson picked and arranged for his girlfriend. They are a spectacularly groovy assortment of pinks, purples and
green.

A tuffet hold some pins and hatpins.

The shadow boxes in the stair well hold butterflies of the genus dollaramus.

A few displays here and there make it feel summery and beachy, even though it thunders outside.

Under the glass of the table is blue sand with shells and trinkets. How does Saucy plan to clean that up at the end of summer? She has no idea.

The cute memo frame has been repainted and hung on the blackboard in the kitchen entryway with a cute cupcake wall decal above it. Now the Cheerios will get busy and muss it all up again.

Teddy bears watch the porch entryway like silent sentries from a shelf.

No, the photo isn't backwards... those are printing blocks on the window sill.

Reader, have you had plenty of summer sunshine where you live? Until the rain subsides, Saucy can only putter around and get a few things done in the kitchen and the craft room... she'd really rather be outside, wouldn't you?

We're experiencing the opposite, it's so hot here the kids want to go outside to play but they can't stand the heat! I hope you get to see the sunshine soon!

How fun to get a little peek into your home. It's been HOT here. In the 90s and humid. We can barely be outside for more than a few minutes. We did have a small storm today but it passed very quickly.

Winter here in Australia! Lovely cool, crisp days. Definitely outside weather.

Oh, were is the weather we can enjoy outside? The girls are not sleeping much as they've not been burning up any energy... up at 6am usually!!! I say they need a paper route! CD's darling little swimsuit would be collecting dust if it weren't used as a costume for her own version of dancing with the stars!

Here in sunny california you'd rather be anywhere but outdoors with temps hitting 101 degree's.

Well, I'm in little ol' Connecticut, and man, it's hot, hot, hot and humid too! I'm staying inside. We finally had some much needed rain yesterday. I'm looking forward to October.

Toronto has been hot, although we got some lovely rain last night. I'm stuck inside today packing to leave tomorrow for our 2 weeks working vacation (doing the east locations myself)... SO not looking forward to it though, considering I'll have 2 kids voicing their boredom from the back seat most of the time.

Hope you get some sunshine! You can have some of ours - I'm always willing to share.

Hey did you notice I talked about you a couple posts ago?

Thanks for sharing your lovely displays. You have such a great gift for putting things together. The weather here in Edmonton has been dreadful - lots of rain & cool temps. My dd is in a horseback riding camp this week and comes home each night covered with mud. They ride in an indoor arena but have to go out into the muddy paddocks to catch the horses. She is loving it but my poor washing machine has been going steady!

Love your house!

Wish I had your weather - like a fellow reader, I'm from California. Haven't had a break from the 100+ heat in a while.

Have you thought about using your vacuum attachment or a Shopvac to get the sand out when you're done with it?

Here in Maine it's hot and humid for at least the third week in a row. We can't complain because the past two summers were rain, rain, rain. Still, I'm looking forward to Fall!

Here in Georgia, it hasn't rained too much lately, but humidity is about 99% anyway! I love your blog, and it's fun to see some details from your house. Those butterflies are adorable!

Your home is incredible but inspiringly so, not terrifyingly so :)

I have an idea about the sandy display in the fall & winter: drape & tuck seasonal fabric over it all. Would that work?

Sending sunny vibes your way!
