One summer day, not too long ago, a group of ladies gathered on the patio for a day of lemonade, cupcakes and charm bracelets to celebrate the start of summer.

The cupcakes were a sort of cherry-chip flavoured cake with a lemony curd filling. They were topped with vanilla and cherry buttercream and sprinkled with cherries (real and candy) and tiny royal frosting lemon decorations.

Set adrift on the pool were pink and yellow flowers.

There was plenty of seating under the pergola, including soft cushions that The Fan and The Secret Weapon fashioned out of vintage money bags from the flea market. Notice, if you look closely, you can see they are laced and locked shut, no less!

The charm bracelet kits were sorted and ready to go - but before that, pink lemonade and cupcakes were served.

Saucy was tickled that lovely guests could join in the fun! Even though it was a busy Saturday, her peeps managed to squeeze in a visit.

The Cheerios were on hand, filling glasses with lemonade and passing out baked goods. When the guests were gone, they splashed in the pool with the floating flowers.

It was a sweet way to start the summer. As the rain clouds descend today, it's nice to remember a lovely afternoon in the not-so-distant past when the sun was shining and the flowers were fresh.
