cheerio charm bracelets

The Cheerios windup was last night:

If you were suspecting that Saucy was cooking up seventeen custom charm bracelets to present to the Cheerios and Mustang Sally, the assistant coach, then you were right. That is precisely what has been keeping Saucy tied to her work desk this week.

She'd had the plan in the works since around January, actually... when she spotted vintage bottle caps in team colours with the word "Teem" on them. Close enough.

Each bracelet customized with a photo charm containing Saucy's favourite snap of each Cheerio over the last five months. She had a lot of sorting to do. Here, Blondie, Roxy and Beegie peek out from behind diamond glaze.

Just like Sue Sylvester herself, Saucy has a captain named Quinn who she also likes to call "Q"... here with Speed Racer and J-Wow.

Why all those little keys? The cheer portion of their competition routine was called "The Key."

Casey dangling from her bracelet to show you some of the details including shrink arts of the team shoe... they dangle together as a pair. If you remember when the Cheerios stuffed Bo the team mascot at Build-a-Bear Workshop, he's in there too.

The real Bo was presented at windup to our Koala Captain exchange Cheerio from down under to take home with her to Australia to remember us by. Tears were shed all round the table.

Snookie and Bree! Initials, cheerleader and megaphone charms... and green and gold Swarovski crystals too. Hearts, too. Lots of gold hearts.

And Loopy, of course. Her bracelet had a "daughter" charm on it also. There were plenty of cupcake charms to remember the cupcake sale and infamous decorating session - they did it all by themselves, Saucy only gave them pointers. They're now pros with the piping bags, as well as the megaphones.

That is quite a bundle of charm bracelets to behold... and what a fine windup it was. Professional team photos were taken then everyone walked from the studio to a nearby Italian restaurant for carbs, speeches and some good, old fashioned crying.

Thank you, Dear Reader, for indulging in these posts about the Cheerios over the past five months. It was a major part of Saucy's life and now that the cheer withdrawal period is over, this blog will return to its regularly scheduled postings about baking, crafting, life, cupcakes and lurrve.

They really are beautiful. I know that those girls will grow into women who look at those bracelets later in life (like I get choked up when I see my marching band mug from high school on my work desk every day). You are amazing and I know those girls appreciate the hard work you did with them!

These are so cool! What a wonderful and generous keepsake, Sasha. Not only in terms of the bracelets themselves, but in the amount of time you've given to create them.

After we left the restaurant, the assistant Cheerio coach Mustang Sally and I decided to relax at my place with the DVD of our competition... some of the Cheerios came home with Loopy.

We drank iced tea and Coke, chatted and watched a little Glee, and they rifled through the leftover charms I had on the coffee table from my assembly line. We added some green and yellow buttons and some charms that The Fan had found too!

Now I have them cheering, baking cupcakes and wiring charm bracelets! Hmmmmm.... what else can I put them to work at?

Cheerio guest blogging?

You are soooooooo creative. What a great gift. It is a gift that will just keep on giving years on down the road. They will look at that bracelet 10, 20 years from now and remember all the fond memories of being a Cheerio. They will also remember you for being their biggest fan.

Those bracelets are so FUN! Such great memories for the girls who probably now don't fully appreciate all your time and hard work that went into them, but I'm sure they will when they mature into ladies. Truly the best giftie Saucy!

BTW, I just had a memory about something you said awhile ago... how are your chickens doing on FB? ha ha Don't know why I just remembered that but thought I'd ask. ha
