And now the fun part starts... we get to choose new uniforms for the Cheerios! I found this really economical website. I'd like to order locally but at these prices, to outfit 16 team members - I really have to watch it. If you know anything at all about cheerleading, you know this is about 1/5 the price of other companies. Every penny counts, right?
These uniforms are in-stock, meaning they would ship out immediately. Here's the rub: they have free shipping within the continental US only, not to Canada. Hmmm.... now what? If the shipping costs kill us, there's no point in ordering from them and it's back to square one. If anyone has any creative ideas for shipping please let me know.
In the meantime, I've narrowed it down to these three choices. And no, I didn't use a decoy uniform. Some years, I've given kids a choice between the uniform I want them to choose and a really ugly uniform. See how that works? It's an old cheer coaches' trick. That way, the Cheerios feel like they have a choice, and coach gets her way. I'm full of tricks like that. I'm partial to the one on the top but you have to see that one on to get the effect of the skirt, which is very flattering. It is modeled on the website main page. That being said, which of these would you pick?

Saucy,
I like number two but I am sort of getting tired of the cut out on the skirt....the white on the outside of the skirts on number one is sort of in a weird place...who needs the extra emphasis there?
With Hilltops, we went with a solid plain skirt that I really liked....the focus was on the top...
I would logo it with ABCI.
Your call though, I am sure it will be awesome!
Oh Pepper you are so right. A plain skirt would be so snappy.
I think you are right technically we need the "I" in there but I lurrve the three-initials! So cute. The mock of that uni in red with white just had my eye on the website!
I don't know where you are located, as in how close to the U.S. border, but I have had success in having purchases shipped to a UPS store on the American side. For a small fee you can have them hold it for pick up by yourself. Then you bring it through customs yourself to avoid brokerage fees. You might want to have several people with you to spread the declaration.
I know nothing about cheer leading, but I'm sure I'll learn lots now you're back in the game...of all three I'd pick the second one.
I like the first one because it doesn't have a cut out.
I like top 3 and the plain flippy skirt idea
Number 2
S.W.A.K.
Number two for me too!
I am having some stuff sent through a blogging friend. Perhaps someone out there will help you out, they could receive the parcel and then send it via the Greyhound, that is usually very inexpensive.
It seems that every time you find something you want, the shipping doesn't include Canada:(
I like choice #two!
Cheers,
Margaret B
I have a friend that orders all the time from USA she goes through a company that gives her a US address (their's) and they ship it to her. Let me try to call her today and get all the info
hey saucy, i would go with skirt #1 and top #2. Those are cheap uniform prices. I know in college we were ordering new uniforms and they were like $200 each!!
send 'em to me and i'll forward them. ya think U.S. mail is cheaper?
jen hanna
I like the second one best...our local high school cheerleaders have those skirts and they are so cute!
I like Number 2's skirt, and Number 1's top. But I also like Number 2's top, so I'll just say Number 2! Which does Loopy like??
I like number one. And if you ship to me, well, that would be a reason for a ROAD TRIP!!! Just sayin'.
I like the 3rd option...
Well Loopy likes all of them but she likes number two the best I think, so if that's any indication of the Cheerio mindset...
She really liked number one when she saw it on the model. My only worry about number two is it might look like the uniforms that other local teams have - but it is a super cute style, so that's why it's popular ;)
I was wondering what other teams were wearing because that would play a part in the decision.
I agree with Kris, the skirt on #1 would not be very flattering on some people. I like skirt #3 because #2 is too common and I am not sold on absolutely plain.
The others are right, definitely scout out the other teams and make yours stand out.
Did you play that uniform trick on us? Who picked out those all white Storm outfits anyway?
Ha ha, Lenore, those white Storm uniforms were a gong show because we ordered them to be teal with fuschia inserts and only the top of the bodice near the neckline was supposed to be white... when they arrived all white... grrrrr... Pepper and I were NOT AMUSED and that was the last order we ever placed with PCA. Are they gone now?
I also just found out that top #1 is a different material than the other tops (more like lululemon, wicking material) and it can't be mixed with the skirt everyone likes because the colours will be off. So it pretty much would have to go with that skirt with the white sides or the bottom skirt only.
But that also means that the bottom skirt will only go with the first top then... are we all following?
Combo 2 is looking better and better but man, it is maybe too much like other ones out there. At least they will have yellow sleeves and not white!!
Oh, and also cool: skirt one and skirt three are adjustable in the waist!!! Very cool.
I guess I'm traditional-i like #3.
Although I think the skirt for #2 is too cute!
I like reading the updates on the uniform choices! Well, wicking material and adjustable waists are definitely a plus, I must say. Maybe Number 1 is looking better now? lol I still like #2's skirt. That little slit in the front is adorable! Glad Loopy likes them all, that will make the choice easier.
I vote for top #3 and skirt #1 or just a plain skirt. I'm really just simple at heart.
Top #3 would draw attention to the girls' faces. Therefore, #3 gets my vote.
#2 for me!
I like the first one, I had a similar style for my squad last year. We had an additional black triangle that helped "slim" it. The cut on the 2nd was tricky, especially when it shifted.
I like the number two selection. I like that there are the angles that put emphasis on the waist.
I like the 3 initials best ... as for shipping, do you have an American friend who could receive your order for you? I see under their shipping options, that they don't ship internationally,so really there would be no other way to order from this company.
If you know someone in the US, you can have it shipped to their address and then have them ship it to you. Or just pick it up yourself at an address close to the border. Let us know if you have any questions. We're happy to help and thanks for the shout out. Happy cheering!
I was going to say what Stacey said.... just ship it to someone here and then have them send it up. Or the other idea of sending it to a ups store by the border. that's a great idea!
oh and i like number 3!
N chooses #3. When asked why she likes #3, her reply: "Because I do." So there you have it, a vote from the mini-set.
My daughter's squad has #2 with their Mascot name across the chest. They made the skirt all one color. Red with white and black accents. Great prices BTW, can't beat that!!!!
I like the second one skirt ... with the third top ... I'm all about team names.
What happened to the pleated skirts? Have I been out of school that long?
Former Bowman Bear myself, I would choose #3 with ABCI instead of Bears. I wish they had a cheer squad when I was there!! Definitely my kind of extra curricular activity!!
Saucy,
While watching Abby's b'ball game in the Bowman main gym....I noticed that the mural on the wall just had AB.......check it out when you are there next....
