winners, winners everywhere

The winner of the Build-A-Bear JONAS Dog is:

Naomi from Down Under! Shoot me an email Naomi so our friends at BABW can send the newest member of your family all the way to Australia! I'll ask them to pack treats for traveling in the box. It's a long way to go for a tiny dog.

Of course, we took Miami with us to the VIP Jonas Mania party at our local BABW on Friday night. She got dressed up for the occasion in her poncho. Check out the lineup!

Here's Loopy, operating the pedal of the giant stuffing machine. Don't you just lurrve the fact that even though she's a teenager in high school, she still gets excited about things like this and spent her Friday night with The Fan and I at the mall standing in line for a stuffed animal?

She's so awesome. She came home with her stuffed dog and made chocolate chip cookies for her weekend study group:

She packaged them up for the trip to Alexis's house. Aren't you glad I asked the girl at Anthropologie for an extra box last weekend?

The baking! The winning! It never ends around here. Time to venture out wearing my sassy new cupcake apron that The Fan got me from Booji Boo, and deliver the cupcakes!

Gah. If you think I didn't totally Photoshop the giant wrinkles off my face in these pictures, have another drink. It was horrifying to see these shots. I'm having a drink as I blog it.

I took Cheryl rich chocolate cupcakes filled with strawberry buttercream topped with marscapone buttercream frosting and a fresh sugared strawberry.

I made a quick stop at Heather's and met her family... the sweetest bunch of boys she has under one funky retro roof. I took them some kid-friendly hamburger cupcakes:

Want a better view? Here's a single. These are a variation of the ones from Hello, Cupcake! but I decided they'd transport better if instead of being removed from their paper and cut in half to assemble, I lopped off the top and put the brownie on top of the whole base to reassemble... do you follow that logic?

I also met cute Jade and her boyfriend at Starbucks to present her with a batch of Red Velvet Elvis cupcakes. One more delivery, but first I had to get ready for the Sunday Charm Bracelet Togglin' Party!

I made a little goodie for my pal KAGS who attended the event as a "teacher helper"! Do you recognize that little cupcake box? They were at Micheals a while back in the dollar section. I repainted the base orange and plucked off the ghastly fake cherry on the top. I glued on the snazzy Halloween cat from Pier One and added the ribbon, pom pom and some bat confetti... that's better! Do you totally wish you'd stocked up on those crazy little dollar boxes now?

But every party Saucy throws needs real cupcakes, right?

Mmmmm! Chocolate with buttercream and these amazing sprinkles from Williams-Sonoma. The cupcake papers are from Crate & Barrel. I snagged everything on my whirlwind tour of Detroit two weekends ago... basically I hauled home a carry-on full of baking supplies.

The last batch of cupcakes looked like candy corn! Thankfully, sweet Leica took Janna her winnings after the charm party.

Sunday afternoon was spent chatting, sipping on cold drinks and charming away...

... everyone was so into their crafting! The end result was beautiful:

The best part? I'm giving away this bracelet I made at the party to one of you. Loopy and I each made one last year and we just haven't got enough arms for all these bracelets. You want? Are you signed up as a follower yet?

Just leave a comment and tell us what you think Loopy should be for Halloween... and it could be yours. It should be yours, don't you think? We need more winners around here. You could be a winner.

I've asked this before - and I MEAN IT...when are you coming to Portland Oregon to make a cupcake delivery? Seriously. I'm almost tempted to pay the airfare for you and Loopy to come make your presence known in our lovely town. And yes - I regret I don't live in Calgary anymore. Because I would have arranged to meet you during one of your many trips.

The giveaways look LOVELY. Congrats to all the winners!

Fantastic cupcakes!! OMG! Love the hamburger one, very interesting! So when are you gonna open that bakery? :)

Halloween would be the PERFECT time for Loopy to try out the punk-rock-cupcake-girl look for your future cupcake shop! (I searched back to your post from Aug. 10 to remember what your vision was) And it would also be a great time for a photo shoot!

I've heard great things about your charm parties... hopefully I can make it to the Christmas one!

Alexis said...

How about dressing up as a cupcake & bear toting fairy? :) she could have a cute pink outfit, a wand and a basket with Miami and a box of sparkly glittery cupcakes inside.

:)

I wish I lived in Calgary so I could join you guys in crafting and baking. My cousin lives there and has been asking me to fly over for a visit for years. :D maybe next year, once i graduate. :)

Oh how divine! Those cupcake look adorable, and I'm sure they tasted amazing!
I think it's a testament to how you've brought Loopy up that spending a Friday evening at the mall with you and The Fan is something she loves doing - you're a great mum!
And I think Loopy would make a very pretty Coraline at Halloween, especially with her brunette locks, and that charm bracelet will look very pretty on my arm (and I've got two that haven't been filled with bracelets yet ;-)LOL!) You could paint buttons on her eyelids, so when she closed her eyes, you'd see button eyes...

Marianne@Songbirdisnesting said...

Those cupcakes look so yummie. Wish you lived in my neck of the woods. I would love to win the bracelet, if you ship internationally that is. As for what Loopy should wear? That long blond hair of hers screams mermaid to me allthough I think she would be a beautiful Marie Antoinette as well.

Coco said...

What do teenagers want to be these days? I think a lot of people are trying to be vampires. But doing what everyone else is doing is not fun. I thought in your photo shoot where she had on the formal she looked like a princess. That would be so pretty but not spooky.

Goth Girl with temp color in her hair. Or someone from the Starship Enterprise. That would be awesome.

I am so hungry looking at all these cupcakes - you create such wonderful concoctions, Saucy! I wish you lived near me in NY state - maybe not. I've been losing weight and I think all those cupcakes would be too tempting. I think Loopy should go as one of the Jonas Brothers.

Loopy HAS to be a cupcake! There's just no question here. There's a super easy crafty costume in Food Network Magazine this month - http://www.foodnetwork.com/how-to/cupcake-costume/index.html Ridiculously cute - and you could easily make it a little sassier and less girly for Loopy. LOVE!

queen-of-nostalgia said...

Fabulous cupcakes! Saucy, you and Loopy are toooo cute!

As for Loopy's costume, I am picturing a Renaissance Rocker... Loopy is so pretty and has an etheral "olde world" look I think, so I am seeing piled up hair, regal... but Loopy is also an original (and lurves the Jonas Bros) I think adding a fun twist, rocker style, would be fun. Think Marie Antoinette meets Pink...

Does that make sense?

Anonymous said...

I missed out on going to the charm party so it would be awesome to win one.
Loopy could pull off any costume she tried to wear ( a bride, a punk rocker or even a Jonas brother-- anything)

They ALL looks so delish! The strawberry cupcakes made me swoon. Yummy!

Loopy's costume could be inspired by "New Moon"...Volturi-esque.

TidyMom said...

now you've got me wanting to make cupcakes!! LOL

Hmmmmm, halloween costume? Sunshine bought hers (yeah, I'm not good at making them LOL) - she's going to be Alice in Wonderland and her bff is the queen of hearts!

I think Loopy should be a rocker chick with her pink guitar!!
I still LOVE those pics!!♥

Love the cupcakes! Loopy should definitely be "The Bride of Joe"!

Jenn@ You know... that blog? said...

Looks like a great time was had by all! Those cupcakes look yummmmmy! I did those hamburger concoctions for The Teen's end of school party in June, complete with sugar cookie fries - they were a huge hit! A lot of work though...

Loopy should be what she plans on being in the future - a Jonas Bride. (too bad you re-donated that wedding gown!) Her bouquet should be created flowers made of pictures of her chosen Jonas Bro's face.

Babsarella said...

Whoa, those cuppiecakes look mighty tasty but almost too pretty to eat!!!
I am thinkin Loopy should be Mrs. Jonas for Halloween, with all her Jonas Brothers attire on at the same time. Oh, and a big (fake) diamond ring on her hand to show that her favorite Jonas Bro is taken.

Babsarella said...

Gaaa...I didn't read the previous posters comment. Looks like we were thinkin alike.

Jen Anderson said...

My first thought was Mrs. Jonas, too.

Or she could be some variation on the corpse bride (vampire bride, zombie bride, etc.) with the thrifted wedding dress.

Amy said...

I'm not very good at ideas. For the first time ever my DH wants to dress up and I have no ideas. Luckily my 7 year old is easy and so is the 12 year old. Can't wait to see what you come up with. And the cupcakes, of course, look wonderful.

bluemuf said...

Congratulations Naomi, the Jonas bear will have a wonderful home.
Oh my...thoses cupcakes look so tasty. I'm sure all the winners will totally enjoy them.

And, I really think that Loopy should dress up as an elegant vampire.

I would love, love, love the bracelet. I missed out by 1 for the mail swap and live way too far away for the swap you had this weekend. I think Loopy totally rocked the Rock Star photo shoot so maybe that should be her Halloween costume. Thanks so, so much for sharing.

Wow, those are some serious cupcakes! Beautiful! Makes me wish I can just hop, skip, and jump right to Canada so I can win some yummies! You think California is too far for skipping?

As for Miss Loopys' costume, I have an idea. Have you ever seen the Corpse bride? Well, I think she should be the beautiful dead bride Emily. How fun would that be?!

What beautiful cupcakes!! Oh how I wish we lived closer together!! How 'bout movin' to TX?!?! No one knows how to make those yummy creations like you here! Such a pretty bracelet ~ I've got a free arm!! Miss Loopy needs to be something beautiful, how about a princess fairy/gypsy.....with lots of glitter and blingy jewelry? She's a doll.

The cupcakes were delicious!! We lurrrrvvveeddd them, especially our little granddaughter Amanda. She had a great time licking the icing!! She knows the word "cake" and can repeat it back very clearly!! Saucy looked so very cute in her apron and I didn't see any wrinkles when she was at my door with her delivery! I don't know what she is talking about! Amanda is going as a ladybug for Halloween but I am sure that wouldn't be a good costume for Loopy, she should probably go as Mrs Jonas like the others said. Oh and don't put my name in the draw for the bracelet, I just wanted to comment on the lovely cupcakes I received! If you ever have another education day on making and decorating cupcakes I must be there to learn!

Sarah Brewer said...

The Halloween bracelet is to.die.for and the cupcakes are absolutely BEAUTIFUL, as always! Loopy is a lucky girl to have a baking/crafting goddess as a mother!

Rosa said...

You are KILLING me with all the cupcakes! Just back from San Diego where I put on the poundage I had JUST taken off. Back to square ONE!! Deary me. They are scrumptious and beautiful all at once. Your bracelet looks marvelous dawling! Let's see, I'm thinking a giant candy corn for Loopy. Whatchya think? xo

Jen said...

ooh! ooh! (to be spoken in a arnold horshak voice) my best halloween costume (as of yet) was the tooth fairy. i think loopy would be a lovely tooth fairy. mine was complete with tulle skirt, wings with teeth (crayola model magic)glued on, big tooth wand, and toothy crown -everything must of course be glittered liberally with fairy dust (aka irridescent glitter). ALSO, i would love to proudly sport one of those fabu bracelets ;)

I think Loopy would make a beautiful dragonfly--I think I know just the right person who could design a fanciful costume like that with gossamer wings.

Jex said...

Loopy should get a cotume like an 80´s girl...something like madonna or cindy lauper =) Ouh, I remember that movie 13 going 30... that look would fit so fine in your daughter...

Those cupcakes look delicious!!!

The hamburger one is to die for!!

I wish that Build a bear was around when I was younger.

Those cupcakes are so cute!!!

You know, an idea for Looopy would be to pull off Cleopatra this year. She's got the strong looks for it, and would really decorate it up well. Plus, it's a timeless easy to make costume that is a little adult but still a little bit of kid (and Oh the jewelry you can do up with that kinda outfit!!!)

Suzy said...

Did you check out Johnny Cupcakes site. I think Loopy would look great in one of those cool cupcake shirts dressed like Cupcake girl. Maybe even shoot an ad campaign for him. He is quite the cutie!!
Anyway, I love the kitty box, sweet!!! Nice delivery get up too!
Would love a bracelet btw.....
Keep it Sweet,
Suzy

I love seeing Loopy all "punked" up.... I think she should be Cyndi Lauper in "girls just wanna have fun" :-)

Of *course* I'm a follower!

I think Loopy would be a great gypsy or Cirque du Soleil inspired character- of course I loved the pirate and princess photo shoots you did with her many moons ago too!

MJ said...

Now that she's in grade 9, she needs something cool but not too cool and not too childish. Considering that your family is so into Star Wars, a Star Wars character might do the trick. Considering her dark long hair, it would be a little dated to suggest Princess Leah (sp?) but then I don't know any of the new characters.

SUPER.DUPER.CUTE cuppycakes!!!! How happy you made all of the winners....As for a costume for Loopy....hhmmmmm...maybe Cruella DeVil?????

Jill said...

Those cupcake are totally fabulous!!! You always inspire me! (Hey, I made "pupcakes" for Hagrid's birthday party and he loved them!)
I think Loopy should be a cupcake, or a "rock star bride of Joe named 'Loopy Cupcake Jonas'". Okay, I'm being a bit silly.

Hmmmm I'm going to go out on a long limb here and say that Loops has got the look for being either Dorothy from Oz with the Ruby red slipper shoes OR Retro 60's Go Go dancer with the hip dress and white boots and her hair bumped up with a sash and dreamy long eyelashes!

And the cakes, well they wished they looked as good as you did! Gorgeous!

I am going home to DC this weekend to get some, and I really can't wait! I need to start baking some amazing ones like you!

Katie needs a rush order of Saucy's cupcakes! They look so delish!

Katie thinks Loopy would look cool dressed British Invasion style: Retro Mini dress and go-go boots. Katie also thinks that with her hair darker, Loopy would make a great Katherine Hepburn.

BAM said...

Would love the bracelet!

There are so many good ideas for Loopy here. She does have a great rocker, but ethereal-ness about her. hmmmm....

She could combine that into a "Rock Princess". Cool hair, edgy makeup, mixed up with a punky dress?

Lucrecia said...

I just finished lunch, yet seeing all those cupcakes I find myself suddenly hungry again!

Oh My! I must get my baking in gear (with a 5 month old this is a challenge!)
I think Loopy should be something unique... uhm, maybe:
* a Reinnasance lady
The new Martha Halloween Magazine has 2 really cool ideas: A ghost and a ghost rider...I think she should considered it!

Caitlin,

The buttercream is the same one I've always used:

1 c. white margarine
1 c. Crisco brand white vegetable shortening
4 c. icing (confectioner's) sugar
1 tsp white vanilla (Wilton's)
dash of salt
whipping cream (approx 4 tbsp as needed)

Blend the margarine and Crisco (they should be at room temp) in your mixer until well blended and smooth. Add the sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition and keeping the bowl scraped.

Mix in the salt and vanilla.

On the highest speed of your mixer, add the whipping cream, 1 tbsp at a time in order to make the frosting light and fluffy! You will know when it is the right texture for you but my trick is to take a little on the tip of my finger and make sure it holds its shape.

** You can substitute real butter into the Crisco if you like by reducing the Crisco to 1/2 cup and adding 1/2 cup room temperature butter. You need at least 1/2 cup Crisco in order for your icing to keep its shape when piped and not go flat. Store in refrigerator for up to a week when not in use but warm to room temperature to work with.

Good luck!!

I think I am going to have to bake some cupcakes today. I seem to have a Craving! Hmmmm.....wonder why?

As for Loopy - she's such a pretty girl - I like her Garage clothes and her pink guitar and the whole Jonas thing - so I guess she should be a funky, rocker, guitar playing Jonas fan.

I know you will think of something far more creative an "cool" than any of us are thinking of today - can't wait to see what she does on Halloween!
