jonas dog giveaway

The fine folks at Build-A-Bear Workshop made Loopy and I an offer we couldn't refuse!

Would you like, they asked, if we gave Loopy and one of your lucky readers one of the new limited edition JONAS Dogs?

Would we like? We would lurrve. We already RSVP'd to the launch event at our local Build-A-Bear store... now we can share the fun with you, too - no matter where you live!

Leave a comment on this post Dear Reader, and on Friday night when we are at the Jonas Mania VIP Party at our local Build-A-Bear Workshop, we'll draw the name of one lucky, lucky peep! Could that peep be you?

Our JONAS Dog will come home to live with our menagerie of Build-A-Bear friends. Have you ever met Miami? I have a little story to tell you. With a picture.

Regular readers will remember that life got off to a rocky start for Loopy. After her stay in the "plastic house" in neonatal intensive care, she blossomed - but she was a late sitter, a late crawler, and a late walker. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and some of the doctors even suggested that perhaps Miss Loopy would never walk.

No matter, we all know how that turned out *door slamming, Loopy running down the steps calling goodbye*.  But Loopy's early years were a blur of tiny wheelchairs, walkers, braces on her legs and back, and sometimes she had little casts.

In 2000, we visited our first Build-A-Bear Workshop while on a family vacation in Florida. Loopy was thrilled, and she stuffed herself a new pal, who she named: Miami.  Miami was her constant companion.

Miami at physical therapy.
Miami at occupational therapy.
Miami at speech therapy.

The doctors even put a little cast on Miami's left leg, just like Loopy. See? She's still wearing it.

One day, The Fan and I had a horrible thought: what if something ever happened to Miami? We decided that a backup was in order. With no Build-A-Bear Workshop near us, we decided to call the store in Miami (oh, the days before internet ordering and shipping!). The kind girl had no more curly bears like Miami left in her store but she made the arrangement to send an unstuffed bear to us from the Orlando store when I explained the situation to her (they never send friends unstuffed). The new, backup bear was named: Orlando.

Of course, we never let anything happen to Miami. She lives safely on Loopy's pillow, along with Orlando, Callie (from the Calgary store), and Navy (from Navy Pier, Chicago). I guess we started a little tradition. Loopy has gifted a few friends along the way naming them Eddie (from Edmonton) and even a Canadian Moose named Toonie for our Japanese sister Yoko! They can hardly wait for the new JONAS Dog to come home on Friday.

Friends, Miami and crew want you to have a JONAS Dog, too.  Just leave a comment and say hello to Loopy. She and Miami will make the draw on Friday night.

Hi Loopy! Love the names of your Build-a-Bear friends. Our kids also lurrve the stuffed buddies, they made some at the Rainforest Cafe in Mall of America. So a Jonas puppy would fit right in with a giraffe and a snow leopard, right?
Fingers crossed in Manitoba.....

Hiya Loopy! Love all of your stuffed friends! My favorite part about Build A Bear are the little hearts that you get to put into each bear... : )

My son Isaac really likes the Jonas Brothers. It was the first CD he's ever bought. He said he would really like to win this "special" bear because it looks really, really cool. He would name him Kevin. Isaac said he would give him lots of hugs and kiss and take him lots of fun places to feel apart of the family.

Hi Loopy! ;)

We adore the Jonas Brothers too. Just got the JONAS Rockin' the House DVD today, it's amazing! A JONAS dog would fit right in with all our other BABW friends! :)

Oh Loopy, this sounds like so much fun!!! We have a few Build-a-Bear friends in our house and we have given a few to charity as well over the years. My oldest DD would love to have a Jonas Puppy.

I want to win this in order to donate it to a charity auction. Because I'm too lazy to come up with an actual idea of something to donate!!

Hi! My 5yr old is named Jonas, so this would be the perfect addition to his build-a-bear bunny named Bunny to be his bed friend. Jonas' special auntie passed away recently and could use another lovie to hug.

Hi Loopy - we KAGS love Build A Bear too - our first sighting of Build A Bear I am sure was at Hamley's in London and we made one with a voice recording of Daisy & Doodlebug for Grandma just before we left England. Now they are collecting Canadian city bears - just like you!
I wonder if they'll ever make a Twilight Edward bear?

HI Loopy
Like you, Danica loves build-a-bear...she has dolphin, cat, 2 bears, bunny and many many outfits! including a bride one complete with roller skates!(ready for a quick get away- I guess)

I am sure she could make room on her bed for one more cuddly friend <3 =)

Oh, we need the Jonas puppy over here in Washington. My daughter has a hard time when her Daddy is gone (in the Air Force) and she could always use a new lovie. I love Miami...what a treasure!

You live in Saskatoon, right? There's a Build-A-Bear here, too. My wife and daughters have stuffed friends from both the Edmonton store and the one here in Saskatoon.

Oh, by the way, I stumbled across your blog by chance recently and happened to read the last few day's worth. Just thought I'd pop in the comments section once and say that.

I just know that our Hannah Montana Build a Bear would love to have this Jonas dog sitting next to her on my daughter's bed. You know, seeing Miley did date Nick back in the day! Here's hoping Miami is with Loopy through many more milestones. :)

I wouldn't want to take the bear away from a Jonas fan - but I had to say that it's FANTASTIC how beautiful and amazing Loopy has turned out. She faced so much at such a young age. Kudos to you both, I am sure that her future is just going to shine!

Wow, I never knew that! My son has CP (he is 2) and was born 3 months prem (along with his twin sister). We are currently going through the 'walkers, AFO's, botox, wheelchairs, etc' what a ride hey! His long term assessment right now is 'he will never walk' - right now he bearly crawls, but I LOVE reading about others who have been told the same thing and who can walk! :)

As for the build-a-bear - pick me, pick me!! My daughter who is 12, a 'young carer' and constant helper would die for it! We love our current build-a-bears and for my daughter to have a JONAS build-a-bear...words could not express how happy she would be!

Hi Loopy,

My daughters also have their fair share of Build-a-Bears. We have two teddy bears, one pink bear, and one pink tiger kitty! They are so much fun aren't they! I am thinking of making costumes for the kids to match their bears, but we will have to see.

My girls would love to add a Jonas to their collection, especially my nine year old.

Hugs, Nikki

Hi Loopy! I love seeing how far you've come since I have a little one like you and I know he will do as great. He has a bear named "bearie" that was his constant companion in his 13 week hospital stay and he now sleeps with every night. And we don't have a Build-a-Bear anywhere close. How sad for us.

Take care

Hi Loopy! We discovered Build-a-Bear during a visit home to South Africa, and Holly got Mia, a sweet little fluffy bunny. I love your stories of how you got your bears and friends from Build-a-Bear, and especially how they got their names ;-) We would love to give the Jonas dog a home, I'm sure he'd get along swell with Mia!

What a beautiful story! My daughter has a build-a-bear as well, and it pretty much goes everywhere she goes. Right now it has been going to Kindergarten with her, since the first couple weeks were a little rough. Bear kept her going.......

I am an avid reader... first time commenter... the Jonas Pup JUST HAS to bring me out of my shell! You see...
Loopy, you really have it all wrong in your blog.... Joe Jonas is actually destined to be my future Son-In-Law. My daughter is very honest... never has told a lie in her life... and this is what she tells me. I MUST believe her. I think it only the right thing that until Joe realizes that Holly exists, she have this cute little Jonas Puppy to keep her company!
