the one where the internet ruined a perfectly nice day

Saucy decided to enter Loopy in the GARAGE Model Search online. She found out about it when they were in the store last week. There was no in-store search in this city so small, so entering online was the only option.

Saucy's been so busy. Today Loopy wore her Garage clothing to school and after the bell rang Saucy dragged her over to the park and rattled off some shots before running other errands.

By the time she sat down to look at these shots after supper, Saucy was thinking Loops might have a good chance! The balloons had since been dropped over to a friend for a treat along with some other goodies. This was one of those days when productivity reigned supreme and even though Saucy had lots to do, she just kept getting more things done!

They required one full length shot, so here it was.

Cute, right? Super cute! Loopy-Doopy cute! Loopy likes to wear clothes from Garage because if Saucy goes in the store before Loopy does and explains to the girls who work there that she has Asperger's, they understand and they help her put together entire outfits, without lots of decisions and hassle. Plus, if you ask really sweetly, they will turn down the music if you find it overwhelming and confusing, which happens if you have Asperger's.

Saucy just adores their return policy. Some days Loopy is so overwhelmed she is unable to try things on in the store... even though she thinks they have the cutest change rooms ever (and they do!). So Saucy can buy her jeans in two sizes, she tries them at home and the ones that don't fit can be returned. The clerk even suggested to let her wear them for a half hour each before making her decision, as long as they weren't worn outside and had the tags attached we can take them back. Now that's some excellent customer service, don't you think?

Back to the story...

Saucy came home to find the Safari message "could not be completed because you aren't connected to the Internet"... no problem!

Problem! The contest must have closed at 10:00 PM EST! When Saucy reconnected to the Internet, she wasn't able to upload. The contest page changed: now it says to come back and vote for the winner starting October 6th from the finalists! Gah.

The Internets broke over here and let Saucy down.

It's so, so sad, isn't it? After she went to all that trouble. And on such a busy day, too.

Oh, well. These are still some lovely pictures... and Loopy has a cute outfit. Maybe next year!

Reader, don't be a victim of waiting until the last minute to enter online. Check out the post below for your chance to win one of my fabulous Halloween charm bracelets. The contest closes as midnight on Friday, October 2. Midnight makes so much more sense for a contest to close, don't you agree?

Agreed.

Loopy you ROCKED those photos... maybe a phone call to head office tomorrow a.m. with the explanation of the internet lines being down might get you a second chance! Worth a try ... its one entry with a legitimate reason =)and those shots are too cute not to try!

Darn shame about the contest. I just *LOVE* Loppy in the 3rd pic down - gorgeous... just gorgeous!

I agree. 12 midnight makes more sense! Those photos of Loopy are GORGEOUS! So cute!

Those pics are AWESOME!!! Loopy is so gorgeous! I'm loving the dark hair!! Sorry the entry didn't work. She's a winner to us!

Rosa said...

Aw, I'm so sorry. It always--the internet--seems to go down when you REALLY need it. Just know that Loopy is always a winner and doesn't need a stinkin' contest! She rocks it every day in every way!! Great photos!!! xo

Wasn't meant to be because something else is already preparing itself for you all. Besides Garage doesn't have the fans that Loopy has! Loopy you look amazing in purple, lurve the eye makeup too, soft eyes!

I say send a shout out to the people in charge. It couldn't hurt.
She is sooo photogenic. It's always fun to see where your photo shots will take you next. Your creativity boggles the mind...that goes for cupcakes too.
I finally posted after my summer long blogcation. I hope you can come by for some *cupcake love*. You're always inspiring!

Sweet wishes,
Sara

That is so sad, these pictures are lovely. I tried to pm you but your emailaddress is not a link? And from the print I can't make out if there is a dot between your names.

That's terribly sad. The photos came out great and the balloons as a prop are genius! What a terrible time to end a contest.

And thanks so much for the idea to have the store turn the music down, I never thought of that for my son and it explains quite a bit about some of our shopping experiences.

These could easily go on the Garage website as they are right now or be in a campaign, she has the Garage "look" and I should know, I used to work for them a long time ago but unfortunately it was so long ago I don't even have a contact there for you to forward this post to, or I would (sniffles) so sorry!!

Agreed!

Loopy, you are gorgeous!

Katie said...

Such sadness! Katie is always on the wrong side of the Internets...crappy luck there.

Katie agrees that you should petition Garage to sneak Loopy in.

Sorry you didn't make the deadline...still, she looks amazing! Loopy would make an awesome Jem for Halloween (a brunette version):D

Christie said...

I have totally had that happen to me, ugh makes me angry....

The pictures are amazing and I am so happy to hear that a store would make such effort for a customer with a special need. I love that!
I think she definately would have won, in any case she looks great!

Abolutely, 10 p.m. as a deadline makes no sense! She looks gorgeous in all the photos you take. Thanks for posting them for us, we enjoy them :)

Jen Anderson said...

Oh no! I'm guessing the 10 pm deadline was midnight in a different time zone.

Darn technology!

It's worth contacting the company. Since the salesgirls are so nice, it's safe to assume that the people at corporate will be nice, even if they have to say no.

She looks outstanding! She totally would have won. Maybe next time. (perfect excuse for another outfit).

I'm thankful I can still accomplish all of Kade's shopping without him. Hopefully it'll continue until he moves out cause shopping is hard with him.

Loopy is so beautiful! Who needs a stinkin' contest? And those photos- are you kidding me? When I first found your blog and saw photographs of Loopy I thought she was a professional model. She looks so poised that I was sure she was older than high school aged. Most of the Asberger kids I know can't make eye contact, let alone strike those modelesque poses. You go, girl!

Loopy is such a Beautiful girl she would have them begging her to work for them!!! You are a great Mom for doing all this with her. I'm sure she is going to grow into an amazing woman.

Angela said...

Saucy! Don't do it - DON'T GIVE UP! They are down loaded now, send them in, anyway... even if she doesn't have a chance to win this contest. The judges will get to see Loopy and your awesome photography... and she deserves that. You never know what might happen, maybe they will like the photos so much they will offer her something else besides the prize (like a modeling contract?)!

My point. They are worth being seen, by the Garage company, don't you think?! Please send them...

Love,
Angela

One of the main reasons we started the picture-taking gig in the first place was her Asperger's. Knowing how hard it is for her to make eye contact, I figured that looking into the camera would be good therapy for her... and it's worked! Her eye contact with other people is pretty amazing now for a kid who looked away/down/past everyone just over a year ago!

She still struggles with new people... that's why starting high school is such a challenge for her.

Green Girl in Wisconsin said...

NO! I agree, you should send them in anyway. She looks awesome.

Saucy said...

Its not that easy! There is no contact info on the website so I can't just send them in cold! I think they disabled it for this very reason :(

TidyMom said...

Oh but Loopy is ALWAYS a winner in our eyes!!! What cute pictures!! I've never heard of that line of clothing!

Wow....those are gorgeous pictures. That is so unfortunate that you missed the deadline because of the Internet. But, on the up side. Another wonderful mother/daughter photo shoot and more fantastic pictures to add to Loopy's photo album. I so enjoy when the two of you do photo shoots.

Hugs karen

I just had to tell you how excited I was to read this post! I radomly found your site while blog hopping tonight...
My 5 1/2 yr. daughter was diagnosed with Asbergers @4yrs. Seeing Loopy and reading about the shopping (smile) just helps me realize my little one is not alone (neither am I) and that she has so much growing to do and will be great at it!!! Loopy is beautiful and those pictures ROCK!!
