Felt like I was almost there =)

I know about the smuggling the camera in feeling...when I went to Beyonce the 2nd last time she was here. I had the pleasure of sitting 6th row center... packed the SLR and my 18-55 lens... and was caught by the opening act security while he was singing..and they placed someone right at our row the whole night! But my sister-in-law pushed out her chest and I would snap away- no flash of course-had to be sneaky... and I have some wonderful pics... but when we left I had camera and she had the CF card...and we had no problems.... never again have I packed that camera to a concert!

I will take Saucy to a real concert. One where the artists don't play the same songs every night. One where the band encourages people to be cameras and recording equipment because they want the music to be shared with the people who couldn't make it.

One where the band actually studied music in college and where more then three chords are played in each song (give Green Day a critical listen...three chords. Seriously).

One the boss can't even keep up with.

Glad you enjoyed yourself. I hate moshing. When I saw Collective Soul I was up close to them. I had several people drop on top of me. That is when I moved way back.

It stinks that you can't take cameras in.

Saucy, you are rock n' roll all the way :)

Glad you had a great time - but I'm amazed you didn't figure out a way to smuggle in your camera!

Congrats on having so many of your fab cupcake creations featured on Cupcakes take the Cake!

You go girl!! I'm OLD so I stayed home!! I spent an hour on the couch watching Dateline about Michael Jackson's funeral... so sad!

Rock on!

Good for you!!! I was telling a friend the other day--WHEN DID WE GET OLD???? I'm going to have to remember that little trick. I need to step out of my box more. Thanks for reminding me. I'm a ROCKER too! lol xoxo

Amy said...

That would have been so great! And your seats were so much better then the "box". My last big concert was Metallica-talk about funny smoke smell in the air.

Hey Anonymous,

And by "Anonymous" today I do not mean "top flaming my blog Elisabeth Hasslebeck Anonymous" I mean "Let's go to a concert and totally hang together sometime Anonymous."

Hoist is one of the Phish staples on Saucy's pink bedazzled iPod but sadly they rarely play in Canada, possibly because of our strict pharmaceutical distribution laws. She may have to travel to see them one day, and yes, she will tape them.

Oh, and she's not bragging when she says this but when she was young she once drove 66 hours straight to see Bruce Springsteen in Texas. He was touring for Born in the USA. Those were Saucy's Glory Days!

You are an awesome chick!

Saucy said...

Oh, and Saucy's problem is that she just really, really likes all sorts of music.

Her iPod is stuffed with everything from Modest Mouse to The Spinners, Queens of the Stone Age, Jack Johnson, Weezer, Kelly Clarkson, The Shins, The Postal Service and Death Cab For Cutie (before the OC - gah), Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Jann Arden, Oasis, music from both Sesame Street and The Muppet Show, Pink, No Doubt, Queen, The Polyphonic Spree, Robbie Williams, to Frank Sinatra and of course her hero, James Taylor. And maybe even Miley Cyrus' Hoedown Throwdown. But she might keep that a secret.

And never Coldplay! Never Coldplay.

Ha ha ha, he he he, that's too funny! I had a similar experience at a.....Neil Diamond concert :) I got "almost" front row seats but eveyone stood up the WHOLE concert. I had to stand as well to see Neil sing. I'm too old to stand up for that long and still enjoy the concert. I didn't want to complain since I figured that would mean I was OLD :(

I loooove that you went. You are sooo Rock and Roll!

Muse really wants to play with Saucy!

I've never been to one of those kinda concerts. I don't even know what is coming to town or what is going where! I must be very sheltered!

Girl, you are going to be concert-ed out! I've hit my one a year concert and sadly don't feel rock and roll anymore either. I'm thinking that is a good thing...

Jill said...

Hey Saucy-- You'll never guess what concert I'M going to tomorrow night! AMERICAN IDOL!!!! Yes, I get to see Adam and everyone!!! I think it'll be a fun show-- maybe not as wild as Greenday, but fun nonetheless! Should I make a sign for Adam? Or maybe decorate a t-shirt with glittery puff paint that says "I'm so Rock-n-Roll"?! :)

Saucy said...

Jill! Make a sign that says "Adam! Saucy will CONVERT you"

Have fun! Totally and completely JEALOUS.

Tracy said...

Love it! Isn't it great to love being exactly who you are?!

You wild woman! I'm just so thankful it wasn't YOU being carried out on a stretcher!

Jeannine said...

Good for you, going to that show alone!

People who love music tend to love all music. Like you, I have everything from classic rock to show tunes to bluegrass on my iPod. And there's nothing wrong with simplicity...songs with 3 chords can be as interesting as songs with 40.

Oh, I just told the boyfriend (a huge Phish fan) that Phish got mentioned on a blog and he couldn't believe it. He also says the singer has been sober for about a year, which might explain why I liked that show we saw a few months ago better than one I saw many years ago when I was in college. Maybe they will return to Canada. :) :) :)

Wow, you little Joan Jett.....Glad you had a great time. My Hubby and I buy tickets at the office always on the day of the concerts. All the promo tickets that aren't used, have to be in by a certain time or they pay. So that is how you can get tickets that day, and great seats always!
Keep it Sweet,
Suzy

Sounds like you were very rock & roll! The young un loves Green Day and is totally jealous... though his exposure has been limited to the radio disney & kid's bop edits :) Fantastic coverage, even without your camera!

Saucy said...

And if I forgot to mention it, I think the lead singer is unusually small... short... petite.

Saucy is on the lookout on holidays for one of her fave Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavours: Phish Food ;)

There may be several tiny differences between concerts now and concerts 20 years ago...

Picture it...Aerosmith and Skid Row...1989

20 years ago I had hair that took 2 bottles of hairspray...now I own one bottle of hairsray and I only use it for halloween

20 years ago I screeched and screamed for 3 straight hours. We had seats right by a two story speaker and were HAPPY about it! We could almost touch the band (what if they sweat on us??? SIGH!) and we didn't even notice the drunken people and noxious odors.

Fast forward to Aerosmith 2004...5 months pregnant, sensible seats NOT on the floor...popcorn in one hand, drink in the other...smooth, sleek 'do maintained by a very expensive flat iron and leave in conditioner...police officer hubs sternly wrangling the drunk young men behind us who had the misfortune of bumping said pregnant belly...ear plugs firmly in place...nose trying not to breathe too deeply due to noxious odors. It was a great show. And I'm still Rock and Roll...right? Maybe? Well, if you still feel it inside, you're still Rock and Roll!

It was an awesome show - we were on the floor, but I had to hold myself back from getting too close to the chaos... I only went a little wild when they played the 3 songs that I knew from their older albums! ...but those 3 songs rocked!!
