a barbershop quartet

... of cupcakes, for The Sprout's first birthday celebration.  Plus, a true barbershop quartet:

A beautiful shot of The Fan and Buddy Budderson, his first lock of hair cut over 18 years ago now.

The ceremonial first snip of hair at the hand of father and grandfather.  An old Russian tradition, for it was truly the lucky whose children were healthy enough to reach the milestone first birthday in the old world.   The grandfather pays a pretty penny to cut the first lock of hair!

The Fan reminisced about my brother's first birthday haircut, how proudly Deda (Russian Grandfather) made the first cut.

... and cupcakes, and family, and tradition.  These are the things that make beautiful days.

I agree! Family, cupcakes and tradition! What a special day for our little family. You are the best Saucy and your cupcakes were beautiful and delicious! All your love flowed through the party and the great pictures you snapped bring tears to my eyes each time I look at them. The Sprout is one lucky lad to have and Aunty Saucy!

Our family never celebrated the first birthday cut; good thing as we have babies with lotsa hair!

My DH & Kade agree that the cupcakes look wonderful! What a wonderful tradition. Our family has a tradition of homemade chocolate creme pie for the birthday child. It's so great to have such wonderful traditions.

I am embarrassed, I was so busy, I didn't even get to try your cupcakes. so sorry, but my kids raved about them forever so they must have been scrumptious!!! but all the little touches were so awesome!!!!!your family rocks, and it is nice to see how you guys intertwine and enjoy what every person offers! I still think the Fan should start her own blog, it would be highly interesting!!!!!

it looked like a rockin party - and what a fun theme. I would LOVE it if you could do a video tutorial on your icing technique - I simply cannot make my icing look like that...
