one week to saucy's birthday

Saucy wants to open this post with a disclaimer:

She knows that she is a greedy, greedy girl blogger. This list is just "over the top" as Veto would say. It's just a wild wish list, you know the kind. Remember when the Sears catalogue came out just after Halloween every year, and you could hardly wait to pull on your pyjamas and crawl into bed with it, red pen in hand? That's what this wish list is for Saucy. Just somewild wishes. Don't hold her to it.

Well what are we waiting for? Saucy's PJ's are on, she has a red pen in her greedy little hand, and away she goes...

Mostly, Saucy admired the Kindle electronic book that her friend Heather was sporting in the Cayman Islands. Heather and her husband "Fast Eddie" like books and gadgets as much as Saucy and Saucy thinks pretty much anything Heather and Fast Eddie do is awesome.

But the price of these will probably go down dramatically over the next few years and she is content to read her peasant paperbacks until such time as she can get her grubby little hands on one of these gadgets.

But when she takes a minute to step back and think about it, another silly gadget is the last thing Saucy needs. What with all this tweeting, mobile blogging, netbooking and iPhoning, she's pretty tied up with her electronics addiction. She supposes that she should leave this one to Beyonce. She could never look as cute as Beyonce.

But again, reality sets in and Saucy just isn't even sure which lens would work best for her needs. She needs to take some time and investigate such things before making wild, public demands. She needs to get to London Drugs, STAT.

She knows that the fancy paper cup set is available online at Fred Flare and the brown and black papers are available at Confectionery House. Don't you also think plain red papers would be necessary for red velvet cupcakes? Saucy does. Cupcake papers are a necessity.

But this is where dreamland absolutely and completely takes hold of Saucy and this is where Veto will most likely use his "veto" authority. Visit this website and do the math. You have to order so many boxes and so many inserts that even though each pair of 14" x 10 " boxes and inserts work out to be .96 cents each, with having to buy 100 of each... that is $200.00 on cupcake paraphernalia. Ridiculous! But how cool would that be, to take a dozen cupcakes in a special box to her friends and relations? Saucy can just envision the big fancy bow on top!

Egadz, Saucy lurrves things displayed in proper boxes, all in order and professional-looking. It is one of her many ridiculous weaknesses. Just take a moment to admire this:

But... shhhh! Loopy got one of these for Christmas, and has all but forgotten about it. Saucy could probably talk her into sharing it from time to time, so scratch that off the list. Saucy will wangle this out of Loopy somehow.

And really, these pink electric blankets by Sunbeam were out in October for Breast Cancer Awareness, and Saucy thinks that Wal Mart might just be sold out of them by now. Rats. They were light and thin and looked awfully warm and comfy. Especially when her arthritis flares up, an electric blanket would be the bomb. Duke would think so too. Well, maybe next October.

And so, lastly... most realistically, Saucy is just asking for some sort of teapot and maybe a brewing mug for her teabags. That would make her the happiest of all, because to be very honest about it, Saucy has everything a girl could want, and then some. And then some more.

Just the tea, please.

And if you readers who haven't popped over to Nobody Puts Cupcake in a Corner to cast your vote for Saucy's Jones Soda blue bubblegum cupcake, please do so... now! Voting ends Monday at 12 noon CST. Saucy's entry wavered between being ahead and then slightly behind all weekend and it was too much for her nerves. If she won the Iron Cupcake challenge, it would be the best birthday gift of all. She is currently getting her butt kicked by the Contessa... the rootbeer cupcake. This is her last-ditch effort to drum up some votes... do it for the birthday girl.

* Amended at 8:41 am: I am ONE vote ahead! Thanks for tying things up Starshine! This is more exciting than the Kentucky Derby!!

** Amended at 10:45 am: I am SIX votes ahead but it hasn't been easy... I fall behind, I get back up again, just like Chumbawumba! Keep voting!

*** Amended at 11:17 am: Rootbeer float is now TEN votes AHEAD of me... should I throw in the towel or what, with only 43 minutes left to vote? The girl puts up a helluva fight...
***** 11:48: Waving the white towel! I fancied myself the Rocky Balboa of cupcaking... but rootbeer float is ahead by TWELVE and there are only twelve minutes left to vote! It hurts so to lose.

You really should consider doing the cupcakes as a business. Your cupcakes are beautiful and I am sure they are delicious. Selling them by the box full would cover your cost of the boxes and special papers. Do mini ones and give as samples with a price list.

Happy Birthday....I have a feeling you will probably do well in the gift department. I would love a kindle too. I just think they charge too much for the books that you buy considering it is a download. But then there are tons that are free.

I voted like TidyMom did...from different computers. Is this your first time entering? The Contessa must have a following or something.

I'm dreaming of a Kindle too. And I love those cupcake boxes. I suspect you'll figure out a way to make your own cupcake inserts with your Dollarama-fu.

Hey Saucy, I love your Wish List. The cupcake boxes can be found here in Canada. Golda's Kitchen sells them http://www.goldaskitchen.com/merchant.ihtml
My super crafty friend buys from this place and always finds those hard to find baking accessories. Happy Birthday!

My birthday was this past week, and I got the Kindle 2. I was so shocked!

I absolutely LOVE it. If you read alot its perfect for travel and way cheaper in the long run than buying all those new books that come out!

I voted for you again. Sure hope you win as you certainly deserve to! The Kindle was on my Christmas list but at that time you couldn't access the downloads in Canada. I haven't checked into it recently. Thanks for your sharing your very reasonable birthday list. At least no one can say they don't know what to get for you!

Oh shucks I missed voting, Ive been avoiding my American friends blogs as I dont want to know any results from Idol and not sure how ahead you are. I want Adam to win, fab singer and very cute too, and also too young for this kitten! Someone on Twitter posted the results from a final show recently in the UK before I watched it.

Hope you get all your birthday wishes, you deserve them cos you are fab! X

P.S Next time I visit I might not say much as I will have my eyes closed just incase LOL! X

N says she likes the pink cupcake papers with the white polka dots best. N wants you to make cupcakes with them. She asks that marshmellows be added to them, maybe on top of the icing? We'll leave some choices to you.

Sorry you didn't come out on top in the iron cupcake challenge. If it's any consulation--I honestly believed that yours did look the best!
Would love to come for a pool party--I simply invited myself to Karen's last year when it was pool weather--Avery would need about a week to warm up to anyone new, so you might have some company for awhile!

Those cupcake papers are sweet. I understand why you would want them! I'd have to side with Veto on the cupcake boxes, at least until Buddy moves out and then you could convert his bedroom into a storage area for cupcake papers and boxes. I like that idea a lot but I suspect Buddy wouldn't be appreciative...

Fancy cupcake papers - who knew? The purse camera comes in oh so handy - you may want your own to have with you always.
