guest blogger: the sprout!

Hey, everyone... it's me, just visiting from my Mommy Sassy's blog.  They call me "The Sprout" but Aunt Saucy calls me a.dor.ab.le.  Loopy calls me "the cutest baby ever ever ever" and The Fan calls me her honey!  I'm all that and more.  Just look into my fantastically bright, smiley eyes.  I'm not just cute, I'm practically a baby genius.

Mommy and I visited with Saucy and Loopy and we taught them how to make polymer clay cupcakes.  Loopy wanted to make earrings for her school friends who have volunteered to help with the cupcake sale, so Mommy and I offered to help, of course.

Now, to prove that I am indeed the smartest baby alive, I will show all of you how to make cupcakes out of polymer clay (isn't that a huge word for an 11-month old?... told you I was a genius).  Presenting: baby tutorial!

Well Mommy and Aunt Saucy didn't let me use the knife at all!  How will I ever practice my mad cutting skills and become a surgeon like my Daddy if I can't cut the polymer clay?  Boo!

Okay, they didn't let me do this either because I would surely have popped them into my mouth, so instead Mommy let me sit and eat strawberries, cheerios and barley soup for this part.

Again, no knife!  I got crackers.

For this part I demonstrated my mad banging skills and then I crawled under the table to play with Saucy's legs and her new blue pedicure.  I'm a leg man, for sure!

Mommy does this part soooo much better than Aunt Saucy!  Mommy said "don't make it too high or it might look like soft-serve ice cream" and she was right.  Mmmmm I would lurrve some ice cream right now.   Take me for ice cream, Pa!

Then you bake these tiny cupcakes in the oven like the package tells you to... but remember, take them out of the double oven when they are done because my silly Mommy forgot to take them out and then she went to do some real baking... it was a disaster!  We told Saucy all about it and she and Loopy laughed at us.  The nerve!

Here's Loopy with the fancy cinnamon buns she made today.  She looks pretty proud of herself and I just wish I could eat more solids.  They look delicious!

Hey, there's Duke!  I like Duke.  Duke must think I am a cinnamon roll too because Uncle Veto holds me up high like that so Duke can't lick at me, either.

Someday I am going to visit Aunt Saucy and Loopy and they are going to sprinkle me with cinnamon and sugar and let Duke lick me clean!  That would be fun!

While Loopy was making cinnamon rolls, Aunt Saucy made a batch of sticky rolls with almonds and cherries.  Mommy doesn't have to feed me this much sugar because I'm sweet enough already!

I hope you enjoyed this baby-powered tutorial!  I have to get back to my pot banging, my camera hamming and my power napping.

Lurrve,
The Sprout

Duke is constantly teased: cupcakes, cinnamon buns, Sprout. Why must everything be held so high, huh Duke?

Girls... silly me! I forgot to talk about those sprinkles. They are glass beads without holes (so I have no idea why they are called beads) and I found them at the Dollarama. But don't get too excited if you can't locate them, they baked on really nicely but the colour ran off them WHEN I DID THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP THAT I FORGOT TO PUT IN THE TUTORIAL:

Cover your creations with clear nail polish to seal them! I can't even blame The Sprout for goofing that up. I just forgot to put it in there. I'll change it.

Otherwise, just use real glass beads or rip up teeny tiny bits of clay and use that for sprinkles, that's what Sassy does and they look great!

I had to check this out, my daughter has been anxiously waiting for the JB's tour to come to Canada only to find out that they are not even hitting our province. She's been devastated. I tell you there would be a few hero's in her life if she could win this opportunity. How amazing of you to give someone this chance!! I love you for not scalping the tickets - scalpers need to be stopped. I admire you so much and look forward to reading more of your blog. Hugs! allustoms@shaw.ca

I recently started a 4-day p/week job and have been racking my brain to come up with things for my gurlz to do while they are home this summer and I'm working. Guess what just got added!?! We love the cupcake on the "sweets" bracelet we won and I know they will be ecstatic to know how to make their own. Maybe this will give them a headstart on Christmas gifts.

Just re-read through this tutorial as I bought some polymer from Michael's tonight to make .... Easter charms!! Did you bake them with the metal thing inside it (to make the loop for the jump thing) or did you put it in afterwards? I was warned that the metal loop might change colours tonight @ Michaels if I put it in the oven. Now that I've confused you, I've done well!!
