blogging about the blog

It has occurred to Saucy in recent days that she and her blog are uncategorical...  uh... uncategorizable.  Without category.  Unable to categorize, there!

Is this silly blog of hers that she began in such haste almost three years ago a food blog?  Why yes, she blogs food:

A craft blog?  Yes, Saucy crafts.  A reader emailed Saucy this week and left big props "to you and your crafty self" and really, no words can describe Saucy's inflated ego after reading that.

If this is a photography blog, then the photo shoots are too sparse and Saucy admits that she and her new camera are over the blush of the first contact and with the honeymoon firmly over, she has some work to do on the relationship.  Please be patient.

Saucy has almost given up on this being a scrapbooking blog.  There are just too many contenders out there.   And the whole cupcake movie review thing is a good gig but she really just picks and chooses the movies she sees, so Saucy realizes she's no Gene Siskel.  Or Roger Ebert.  The one that's still alive, you know what she means.

Is it a humour blog?  The question is, how funny does one have to be in order to be categorized as a humour blog?  Ridiculously funny?  Moderately funny?   Saucy thinks pretty funny, and she's not that funny.  Funny looking, but that's a different kind of blog all together.  There have been funny posts, yes.  But not consistently funny.

And the whole mommy-blog phenomenon?  Saucy is worried that Oprah and Dooce have pretty much ruined that possibility for the rest of us.

It had the potential to be a travel or shopping blog but in reality, when Saucy returns from her fabulous locales with Veto, she's often too tired to post about it, and immediate reminiscing holds no allure.

Dare she mention her one ill-fated political post?  The only triple-digit comment generator, perhaps Saucy cut her career as rabble-rouser too short.

It would seem, Dear Reader, that as her third blogiversary approaches, Saucy finds herself at a blogging crossroads.  Perhaps it is time to narrow the focus of her bloggedy-blog.  Or at the very least, plan some sort of really...

Fantastic.

Celebration.

What would you say to that?

I enjoy every little tidbit on this blog! no matter what you have going on in your posts it seems to always make me laugh or inspire me to get baking! and for that the kids and husband thank you for those oh so yummy red-velvet cupcakes....although I feel asleep, for a wink or two, and the kids decided to use the icing that was preloaded in the icing bag- and OH so MANY sprinkles =P

Your blog is what it is.... a snapshot of you. It is always different, yet always the same. I stumbled across you when I was googling fairy images for my daughter 6 months ago, and have been hooked ever since. Dooce is trite even at her best...So take those beautifully manicured fingernails and keep on blogging stranger friend! Don't change a thing.

Cheers from Vt ♥

I have to say that checking your blog is a little smile/giggle/lightbulb moment in my day. I am constantly inspired and intrigued by your baked goods, charm bracelets, photo shoots and daily insights. It's a little blog of wonderfulness.

I think I stumbled on your blog way back when you were doing your house flip....I think I found you via Mrs. G....dear Saucy i have been hooked since. you are firmly in my google reader and going nowhere. You were also the first person to comment on MY blog and for that I am ever grateful. Also were it not for your blog I would not have have begged my sister in laws in Hamilton, ONT to take me to the dollarama "because Saucy shops there" (should I mention I snuck back Easter Monday, alone, and bought even more goodies??)....I thik of you when we watch Corner Gas (b/c of the saskatoon thing)....so please, don't go anywhere. Stay and don't change.

Well, I never stopped to think if it was about food, but it is delicious. Pretty pictures, good ideas, enough personality to be interesting, and, yes, funny. Fun to read. Happy Anniversary! Jewels

Hey Saucy, I get a thrill everytime I see you have posted anew, and I check in most days. I love your imaginative way of seeing the world and your story telling is first class. So your blog is eclectic, I think that's half its charm (and the other half of course is you and yours).

So let's party and celebrate all things Saucy!! woohoo!

It's all good Saucy, ALL good. Don't edit a second, I love reading every aspect of your life. And remember, just because you don't get triple digit comments on all the posts, you are still having MEGA readership and following and that is more important:)
So lets just do a HUGE CELEBRATION!
Hugs from the Midwest, Sonya

I am anonymous 'cause I'm not sure how to register my name (yeah, I'm THAT technical).

Anyhooo... Please do not feel like you need to narrow your focus; I luuuuurve your blog, and find it all way interesting. I am constantly trying to tell my sweetie about something I read on your blog - so funny! I loved the blog on the presidents, the bikinis, a day in your life, anything and everything you write about Duke. It's all so great.

Yours is my favorite blog I read regularly. I'm sure I'll enjoy whatever you do; I've loved it so far!

Party on Saucy!!

Celebrating is great idea, of course. I'd call your blog a personal blog wherein you document whatever awesomeness you happen to be up to.

Lucrecia said...

I think it would be a shame for you to narrow the focus. I think its one of the reasons I enjoy your blog so much, and read it every day even when I skip others. I couldn't pick a favorite part!! Please don't ask me to try. I'll be glad to try a piece of that white cake though, thank you kindly.

Dear Saucy, Yours is the first blog that I have ever read, I now link on to a few of the blogs you 'have visited', but of course yours is my favorite. Many of my sentences begin with.."Saucy made this great...", or "Saucy thinks....", or my husbands favorite"...Saucy has one and I want one too". My friends don't read blogs and think I am a stalker, they just don't understand, I have to check in and see what's new every few days!!! Keep up the great blog!!!!

I love that your blog is a surprise to visit - always something new and often unexpected. I usually think to myself "I wonder what Saucy is going to post about" and there is a nice moment of anticipation before your blog pops up. I love that your writing is genuine and inclusive on wide ranging topics.

I call it sputterings. You sputter all over. But I took that name already, even though you sputter better. I would appreciate you putting some labels on your posts so that we could find them easier. I keep referring those I meet with Aspergers to check your blog but I can't find your posts on Aspergers.

There. I feel much better... I'm glad your dessert turned out swell anyway!

No...don't change. I like your blog just as it is. You have a little bit of everything! I even loved the political post. That was probably the best political post I had read all year!

Something for everyone, all different, yet all tied together with class and humour.

I love reading your blog because of it's uniqueness, so don't change anything!!! I happened upon it while you were doing the house renovating and after a few visits, I was hooked!! Stay true to you!!

I've had the same sort of concerns with my blog. I seem to be somewhat classied as a sewing blog, but really my blog is about living my life creatively in all that defines. It may be sewing, cooking, baking, reading, gardening, adventuring, or whatever. My purpose is to just share my life. So, it will be interesting to see what you decide, but I'm quite happy with your blog as you seem to be sharing your life just as I am attempting to do.

Cassandra said...

As you know I stalk you here, on Flickr, Facebook, Twitter...can't
get enough of you and whatever you are writing! The concensus seems to be don't change a bit. You are funny without being silly, informative without being preachy or "unattainable", tackle issues without being divisive (okay, there was that one post, but you were SO right) and just plain sweet! Happy anniversary, many many more. Oh, and the Dooces of the world better keep checking their rear view mirrors...because as Paula would say, "you've got chops" :)

Dear Saucy,

Funny, I stumbled across your blog because of that political entry -- and I fell in love with the humor, the format.. it was delightful.

You and I live completely different lives and a few differences of opinions, for instance I always side with the peasants in the French Revolution, so I'm not a big Marie fan. ( but I do read a lot about her... )

I do like being able to read about your adventures wether they be crafty or otherwise. I've even printed out some recipes that I know I will never use. I really enjoy a glimpse into a life I don't live, so I hope you don't change anything.
