swap love

Loopy and I have been down for the count this week with ear infections. First, we were weaving and wobbling around and losing our balance. Then, we had headaches and fever, I thought we had a touch of the flu. We woke up on Wednesday morning with sore ears, the both of us. A quick buzz over to our doctor's office confirmed it and we were on antibiotics, pronto. They really knocked us out. Yesterday we slept for over 24 hours.

Right now, we are wrapped up on the sofa, watching television and perusing Loopy's home economics homework for next week. I'm enjoying looking at the Valentines that arrived from Sarah's Valentine Swap this week. I hope you enjoy them, too.

They really are sweet, all of them, aren't they?

Just to make ourselves feel better, how about a giveaway? If you would like to win one of the splashy bracelets that we made for Loopy's birthday party this year, drop us a line in the comments. Tell us what we might do over the weekend to feel better while we're so sickly.

A nice warm bath always makes me feel better when I'm unwell - its lovely to relax in and you feel all warm and snuggly and pink and clean when you get out.
Hope you heal up quickly!

I say scrapbook if you're up to it otherwise grab some unread magazines and catch up on the trends and "informative" articles.

I am so sorry you are both feeling icky. My prescription is for one large chocolate cake and two forks.

Some gentle stretching a couple of times a day, even though you may feel achy, always helps me. I imagine it helps keep the blood circulating well, and the muscles limber. Doing this after a long soak in the tub would be WONDERFUL. Feel better soon!

Sorry you both aren't feeling well! My daughter and I had something similar happen, and we spent the weekend in comfy jammies and warm socks and watched Everybody Hates Chris, seasons 1-3

They have them at Blockbuster. We had the boys fetch them for us, along with some chinese food (great for colds and upper respiratory stuff). Hope you both get to feeling better soon!

Love you blog, and would love to win a braclet for my daughter!!!

My recommendation is fudgesicles or popsicles. They always help the sore ear/throat. Plus they now sell the banana/rootbeer/lime combo pack....all good flavors except lime (to me anyway :) feel better.

Take a warm bath and then get into some warm fuzzy pj's
Curl up on the couch together and watch a bunch of chick flicks while eating some awesome snacks brought to you by your loving family.

Hope you both feel better. Ear infections are a yucky thing to have.

I know that when Im not feeling that great my favorite thing to do is take a nice steamy shower, put on my favorite set of pjs, and have a Gilmore Girls marathon in bed! Dont forget all the yummy snacks!

I suggest a steamy shower, then make a fruit smoothy. Use banana, strawberies, blue berries or any other fresh or frozen fruit. Add OJ and vanilla yogurt and most importantly... fresh spinach. You won't taste spinach but when you emulsify it along with banana's and other fruit you will get yourself a power packed drink that will help with any ailment and put needed nutrients back into your body. I sometimes use pomegranite juice as well. Grapes are good too.

Sorry to hear you and Loopy are under the weather. No fun. Drink some hot tea with lemon and honey, snuggle up in a pair of flannel jammies and alternate between reading and then watching a movie. I love the old classics when I'm under the weather. Maybe something with Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly and Cary Grant. I hope you both are feeling better soon.
Oh, I love the valentines you received in your swap. They're all so different and creative.

First of all I am sorry you are both feeling icky! I would say snuggle up, sip tea, and sketch out some things to do when you are feeling better. We always sip fennel tea when our tummy's are upset. Hope you all are feeling better soon :)

Movies! I rarely watch movies the second time but at a time like that when you feel lousy and are curled up on the sofa I think movies would be great....also chicken noodle soup.... I hope you are both feeling better soon!

So sorry to hear you are both under the weather. Hmmm, I always suggest a hot bath, warm blankets, hot chocolate, & my hubby found me the neatest foot cozies at WalMart that you heat in the microwave & wear to stay toasty warm. They have lavender in them & also smell sooooo good! Watch TCM in black & white with Loopy!!

Feel better soon!

Big TX Hugs,

sounds like you've already gotten tons of great curl up in cozies (after the warm bath) and watch chick flicks with a favorite flavored smoothy, soup (in a bread bowl if at all possible - delivered on nice trays that also contain a small stack of madlibs and some decadent dark chocolates) and a nice stock of magazines ... yep, that would be my tip, too.

wishing you both a speedy recovery!

... and I DID enjoy looking at all the fun Valentines. :)

Lenore said...

I'd have to suggest more of the same...pajamas, movies, maybe some crafting, make and devour some comforting food...just BE SURE to milk it for all it's worth ;) You definitely should be waited on...and of course get ready to watch the Oscars

MJ said...

My vote: eat the leftover conversation hearts! Surely you must have some, particularly the duds, that need to be munched? It will give you temporary sugar highs to offset the effects of the medications. When you are off the sugar buzz, another handful of conversation hearts! See, it's easy!

Feel better soon!

Shop online!!!!....treat yourselves to something Juicy!! :) Shopping makes EVERY girl feel better!!!! Hope you both are better A.S.A.P.!!

Holding a heating pad to the infected ear might help. Or you could do what I did yesterday, while nursing a cold: spend 5 hours watching The version of Pride & Prejudice with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy.

Fell better.

I haven't had an ear infection since I was 6 years old.....how on earth did you get such a thing? Is it the weather out in your neck of the woods?

I remember ear infections as being so incredibly painful that you shouldn't do ANYTHING this weekend. You must load yourself up with Tylenol and try to sleep it off.......or maybe you could just read blogs all weekend :)

Hope you're better soon!

one pint each of your favorite ice cream and them mix them together. Have the boys serve it to you, of course. Watch movies under the blankets and look at gossip magazines.

Those are adorable cards! Hope they cheered you up. Feel better and thanks for stopping by!

Maybe you can do what I did yesterday when I was confined to my coach with a stiff neck and back. Watch Chocolate - the movie. Nothing better dan a dose of chocolate and Johnny Depp to make you feel better.
Hope you both will feel better soon.

When my daughter and I were both sick a few weeks ago we both laid on the couch and watched a collection of Audrey Hepburn movies and waited while the hubby made some fantastic home made chicken soup with a little red wine thrown in,,,

Have a nice long warm bath and then get settled into the couch and stay there!
Would love to win your bracelet - it's the best one yet!
Thanks

You just keep cuddling on the couch and use a warm rice pack to help the pain go away

Hope you feel better really soon!

Awww, I hate that you are both sick. When I have that icky feeling I like getting a couple of good books and my favorite stack of blankets and laying on the couch. Nothing like getting lost in a good book!

I hope you both are feeling better soon. Cuddle up on the couch and watch fun movies while keeping hydrated with yummy liquids.

You know what Daisy & I would do? Watch loads of old musicals whilst laid out on the couch covered in warm blankets waited on by the two boys in our house who are both very caring and concerned for our well-being.

Angela said...

Lots of naps, warm baths, you most snuggliest jammies, and your favorite warm drink in a mug big enough to swim in. Then relax all week end long and make sure that you do plenty of that for the three of us.

Do get well soon, my friend.

....and of course I should also have added that I hope you both recover very soon.
Of course your beautiful bracelet would be welcomed into our growing collection...but there's lots of others out there who would love to own it. We already have a Saucy creation and the opportunity to make more right alongside you at each charm bracelet party!
Get well soon girls x

I have no advice for you this weekend as your already doing what I would recommend wrapped up in blankets, reading, watching movies! Prayer and blessings to a quick recovery for you both and the boys who will have to survive on their own without Super Mom/Wife to aid them. *wink*

I would get a lot of sleep and drink lot's of oj. I personally love having chicken noodle soup with an egg cooked in it. BUT that's just me. :D

I sympathize with you. My daughter Erin (2) and I were both sick this weekend as well. A loving family is the best way to get well. My husband and son made sure we had blankets and fluids. They did such a good job that we felt well enough to go to the Mardi Gras parade on Sunday, even if we just stayed in the truck and watched snuggled under a blanket. Hope you are feeling better.
