They were lemon cupcakes that we first scratch frosted with buttercream icing and then I piped the "noodles" with a plain tip on my pastry bag.
Loopy was in charge of the meatballs. They are Ferrero Rocher chocolates tossed with unsweetened raspberry preserves. For a fun touch, we grated white chocolate "parmesan cheese" on the top of the entire dish before serving.

I can't take credit for the idea... it came from this cool book entitled Hello Cupcake by Karen Tack and Alan Richardson. Check out their website. If you follow this little blog, I will be attempting most of the cupcakes in the book in the near future.
Tell me about the cutest cupcakes you ever did see, Dear Reader.

I've never seen anything more creative than these cupcakes! Pass the parmesan cheese, please!
We've made the butterfly cupcakes for Grandma's birthday! I love that book!!! I really like that you don't need a lot of "special stuff" to make them, it is layed out great. Our public library carries that book but there is usually a waiting list.
There is a girl from my hometown that has a cupcake buisness out of her home. She makes the CUTEST cupcakes out of rolled fondant. Check her out: http://surelygoodnesscupcakery.blogspot.com/
Those are so clever! I did think it was spaghetti at first...figured out there were cupcakes before I actually read the post...but goodness sakes, you ladies did a great job! So CUTE!

LEMON cupcakes with a hint of raspberry? Those sound divine. I am weak for anything lemony at dessert.
Happy birthday Uncle Bug! I love those cupcakes. How fun are you?
Cutest cup cake I have ever seen? The ones that you just featured! Very creative! I bet my grandsons would love those. They do not look to hard to do either.
You still get credit, Saucy. You inspire me all the time.
Happy birthday, Uncle Bug.
Happy Birthday Uncle Bug!
I love all Italian food, but your spaghetti looks like my new favorite.
My cutest cupcakes were decorated to look like flowers and they had tiny ladybugs and bees on them made out of sugar cookies. The little sugar cookies I made were less than 1/2 inch.
Your pal,
Linda
Cute, cute! Ooo lemon sounds good right now.
Personally I love cupcakes but my family loves regular size cakes so my kids favorites were the horse head I did for my daughts birthday and my son's ocean/beach birthday cake.
Oooo....yumo!
Such cuteness!

Ahhh hahaha! Great execution! (I'm also digging the new blog layout!)
What a cute idea! I have to make cupcakes for this weekend. I might have to try something fabulous like that.
Great post!
You do make the most amazing things. I might have to keep that in mind for Lizzie's upcoming birthday. Speaking of birthdays, do you have something fabulous planned for Loopy this year?
happy, happy birthday Uncle Bug!
oh yeah, those spaghetti cup cakes are clever! & lemon anything is zingy goodness. :)
cutest cupcakes, ever - a friends mom made the cutest purse cupcakes ... although, now that I think about it, maybe they weren't baked in cups ... oh, never mind.
Your cupcakes are so clever as is everything you do.
I used to see some creative cupcakes when I was teaching, and then the after 9/11 our district set a rule that cupcakes had to be 'store bought' so the kids couldn't get harmed with biological war-fare intent.
Screwy!!

I bought the book from Sams club for 10 bucks and it has been one of the best cook books i have ever bought! Easy-peast, and the recipes for cupcake flavors in the back are also delicious! Glad to see you back, Saucy! This lurker-wannabe-blogger was beginning to suffer bloggedy blog withdrawals!! :)

The cutest would would have to be the ones my 10yo made over spring break using your "box" recipe. I piped-to use the term loosely-smurf blue icing on them. They were cute because they looked like a 4yo had done it. They were pitiful because a 43yo really did.

i've made a cupcake that looks like a crazy person!

I LOVE THOSE SPAGHETTI CUPCAKES. I'm a huge fan of spaghetti so I love, love, love that you've made something into it. I'm definitely going to steal this one. And the cutest cupcake I ever made were ones that weren't burnt. Yes. Sounds good right? lol.
