test shots and to do's

I've been taking the time to read the manual for my new camera... today was the first day I took some shots with it, can you believe I waited so long? This is just one more reason for Veto to call me a nerd. There is a huge increase in the amount of light available in this lens... normally I wouldn't be able to take photos indoors without the flash on a gloomy day like today. Obviously, I am falling in lurrve.

I've been tackling my massive to-do list. We leave for Jamaica on the weekend and before that we have a couple of days in Toronto with family and I really need a recharge. When I say recharge, I mean it. It's been too cold to do much here and I've hardly been out of the house since Christmas...

... and I have a new computer that I don't really know how to work

... and I have a new camera with nothing to really photograph

... and I have a new laptop that really needs a new battery, they're sending it in the mail

... you might just say I've lost my mojo, if only temporarily. Really.

I gathered a few goodies and set them up on the mantle today. Here's hoping it doesn't look too "Christmas-y," I was going for a silvery, glittery, wintery look.

Will you tell me when I get my mojo back?

I'm also feeling lacking in creativity right now. Is it the extra creativity that we expended during the holidays sort of tapped us out? Maybe the January lull will recharge us for amazing things in February???

I know what you mean. After I take down the christmas decorations, I transition January into a winter white theme so the February decorations blend into a Winter-Romance theme!

PS--I gave you a shout out on my blog today :)

When you find your mojo in Jamaica - will you have a look and see if that's where mine went for a nice warm break?
If you don't post before then have a lovely re-charge - you'll be fresh like a spring daisy when you get back! Hopefully our weather will be much improved by then too.

I'm just starting to feel my groove kicking in again, after weeks of being blah. Happy, but blah.

No zip.

May yours return, pronto.

I don't know. Is your mojo hanging out with my mojo somewhere? If you find yours, could you check if mine is there too and send it home? I'm certain that my mojo isn't sensible enough for a warm weather vacation so don't bother looking for it in Jamaica....

I may leave a package for you tomorrow with a few little goodies.

Hey, if you need mojo just say so. We have plenty of it down South and would be ever so glad to send you a whole bunch.
Personally, I think this photo is grand! Love the birdie cage, love it! I can't wait to get my new camera -- and why so serious??? You're going to Jamaica?!? Hoohoo!
Have a great great time of it.

Been wondering where you've been. We are dreaming of a Carribean vacation. Have you been anywhere other than Jamaica?

I love the silver and think it's fabulous! I'm working on a Roundup of easy winter decorating projects and I'll be linking to this.

saucy, forget the mojo! go relax on the beach, enjoy a romantic time with your hubby.get a tan,sip umbrella beverages and eat food you normally wouldn't prepare for yourself.oh and take in a spa treatment or two. you deserve it! you work way too hard, and take care of everybody else. go have some well deserved relax time. Don't worry your mojo will come back when you need to change the theme in your house to Valentines Day and create awesome red & pink desserts and come up with a new design for a jar for love. get out those flamingos!
have loads of fun!!!!

You must be feeling like the walls are closing in on you...with all the snow and freezing temps.
You will have such a "photofest" in JA...wow! And be warm!
Be sure to bask in the sun and float in the Caribbean....and be lazy too.
Enjoy Toronto also...have a wonderful tropical respite,Saucy!

Post-holiday is a good time to embrace the darkness and quiet . . . . Regroup, and they will pass soon enough. Wishing you a good trip to Jamaica in which you are pleasantly--not unhappily--surprised.

I have nominated you for the Premios Dardo Award because I so enjoy your blog. Please visit http://hotchpotcafe.blogspot.com/ for the details.

Your mojo is probably waiting for you on a beach in Jamaica. Yep, I'm sure you'll be reunited there!

Ugh...Tell me about it! I went through and totally emptied all of my decorative shelves today and then delved into my stash of Martha Stewart magazines PRAYING for inspiration...to no avail...I'm hoping something will pop out at me soon.

I think 'tis the season for losing one's mojo. After the hectic holidays we can finally just let it all go.

Enjoy your vacation! Surely it will do the trick. Lucky you ; )

And your display looks more winterish than Christmasy. Very nice.

I know the feeling...

I started taking pics with my camera right away, but it took me 6 months to read the manual. I still don't understand what I read...

Your camera is fabulous! I have been thinking I needed a camera also and after seeing your photos I'm really going to have to start looking in to that.
I bet your Mojo comes back while your on vacation. Something will inspire you and you will be crazy with mojo when you get home.
Have a wonderful time!

I am dealing with the blahs too! We are heading to Disneyland in about a month and I can't wait to get away from snow, cold and gray days. I've been looking for ideas for my mantel, I love yours. I can't find any snowflakes, I've looked but I did find a lovely mercury snowflake jar half off at Target yesterday. Somebody had stuck it behind a bunch of other stuff and I stole it. HaHaHa

Saucy,

I think I know just how you are feeling. In three days we had 72" of snow dumped on us (just before the Christmas break). We were pretty much unable to do anything, but I am fine with that. I try to get things done at home, during that time, that I have been griping about not having the time to do b/c I am always so busy; and I try to snuggle by the fire more often.

I am sure that the Jamaican sunshine and the friendship of those that you haven't been with in a while will help to cheer you. I also hope that you find great inspiration while you are gone, and that you physically find the strength and energy for the both of us!

Have a wonderful time. I will miss you while you are away,
Angela

The silver is always a good thing to put out in January--so bright and sparkley like snow. Good luck getting that mojo. I want to hibernate until mine returns.

I am so feeling you...I know exactly what you mean! We've been trying to clear stuff out hoping that will kick start some creativity. If you find any on vacation, send vibes this way!

Loving the bird cage, are there real birdies in there? I can't tell.

your mojo is on it's way (it just needed to make a pit stop at my place, first).

Definitely a glittery wintery look and not so Christmas-y ... I think it's lovely. :)

I'm OBSESSED with this dirty silver glass they are selling now in stores like Home goods. I NEED them all. your mantel looks exactly like the top of my shelf in my kitchen.
Beautiful!

Honestly, I never thought you lost your mojo. I'm always amazed by your blog posts.
Your mantle looks great. I have started leaning towards a more seasonal decore instead of a specific holiday. That way I'm not constantly packing and unpacking.

LOL! I never read the manual to anything that I buy which probably explains why I never know how to use it. It seems that you've found new things to photograph though and you definitely got your mojo back :P
