Our most recent Loopy photo shoot was inspired by this photo from the Forever 21 website. We snitched one of Buddy Budderson's Pink Floyd tees, threw on as many accessories as we could lay our hands on around the house and found a cap in the winter hat collection...

The appliance seems to be making a difference in her face already, I can see it when compared to earlier photos... or is it just me? Plus, she closes her mouth differently with all that metal in there.

Oh but she still looks so gosh darn cute!

Okay, so I had me some fun in Photoshop. What else did I get done today? I had a very long, well deserved nap. Oh, yes I did.

After all, I've been getting ready for Christmas around here. I saw some amazing ornaments at one of my favourite fancy stores... and you know me... can't justify $18.00 tree ornaments so off to the Dollarama for plastic ornaments and bugle beads:

And perhaps you will remember me stocking up on a dollar's worth of these bad boys a while back:

This weekend they also met their match in a bowl of chartreuse glass beads, also from Dollarama. Here they are, drying on the last of the Halloween branches:

All of this will give you a hint for my decorating theme this year. I had originally planned to dig out the remnants of the Harry Potter tree that I made for The Festival of Trees a few years back (of course I made far too many and have a tree's worth leftover) but with the movie release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince being pushed back to next summer, the kids and I decided we aren't mad for Harry this year.

So can you guess what I'm up to this Christmas? It's going to be a little fun and crazy, not as serious as other years.

Can you imagine hits of red, lime, fuschia, turquoise and pink?

And what about throwing in my collection of mercury glass ornaments that I've been saving since forever?

But it will only work if I can get my hands on one of these. And you know me well enough that I won't pay full price, nor will I purchase it before Christmas. What will I do? I've decided to try my hand at flocking one of my old trees. The Fan suggests the stuff that bad drywaller sprayed on the ceiling of the house. I'm thinking to start with quilt batting and work up from there. The cans of "spray snow" say not to use it on trees and wreaths... I suppose it would fall off and make a horrible mess.

Any ideas?

I thought the first pic was Loopy. She looks so beautiful. Love the green ornaments. I am going to get the Polar Express moving in a week or two, must get through the slumber party first. Have a great day.

Love when you turned the hat green - nice pics of Loopy, as usual! They make "snow" in a jar that I've used for craft projects. You would dab it on as thick as you need. It would take a lot of it to cover a tree, but you might check it out if you're flocking a small tree.

Loopy looks gorgeous!!
Beautiful Christmas color scheme!! And great ideas with the ornaments.
As far as the flocking goes, what if you take it to a Christmas Tree lot and have them flock it for you? I'm sure they wouldn't charge too much...

Hi Saucy :)

Loopy looks beautiful as always!

I found tree flocking online here:

http://www.craftflocking.com/index.php?pr=Buy_Tree_Flocking

Funny... I'm going to do that this year too and I'd been looking for a tree lot that does it, but they don't anymore... hmmm...

hugs,
rue

I dunno what you're doing with your tree, but I want one too! I've always tried to talk the girls into doing a funky wild tree in their rooms, but - sigh, they never listen to me.
So I looked at that tree flocking link and I think I might have to do that! I'm getting quite bored with my standard tree decor.

Can we just do Christmas at your house? Because you make everything so very lovely.

Including your girl.

I'm sorry to not see a Harry Potter tree but I understand not being able to get into it without the movie. I wish I had the eye to go into our dollar store and see the potential. I tried. The pics of Loopy are great, again. We just got my oldests' braces off and I can't believe how much difference it made with his smile.

Your Christmas theme sounds so festive! I have a pink tinsel tree (thanks avon!) That I put on my nightstand to make me smile. Perhaps I will carry those colors through the rest of the house as well. I love the bead idea... I've done glitter, but not thought of bugle beads. Can't wait to see how your flocking project goes. Fabulous Pictures as always!

I too, thought Loopy was in the first pic. She could grace any magazine cover. She should really check into store modeling, especially for the holidays. For years I'd wished for something pink in my laundry basket...maybe a grandaughter...someday.
The can flocking is the least expensive. You'd have to apply spray adhesive first, which I'm going to experiment with on a few surfaces. I'll be doing a tutorial on faux snow.

Sweet Wishes,
Sara

P.S. Your gonna lurrve the Marie Antoinette jewelry I brought back from the Seattle show.

I think you can just buy flocking spray. What about white spray paint?

Sarah and Jack said...

I was going to suggest the same flocking link.

Although, I have read on a blog somewhere that her tree lot will still do it for her. It has never even occurred to me to ask such a question (all my fake trees are white), but it might worth calling around a bit.

Loopy is so photogenic!!! Isn't this the age you are supposed to be awkward and goofy looking?
You are killing me with the dollar store finds. we are just going to have to move closer to one.

You've got a neat blog. I really like the idea for the ornaments. I'll have to consider looking into doing that. Take care.

I LOVE those ornaments, I think I am definitely going to have to glitter some this year!

About your suggestion with the bottles....we have already talked about taking them to the glass shop and having them drill a hole in the back bottoms for the cords...we are toooo chicken to try it ourselves......

Saucy, I'm a lurker, but had to post -- I bought a flocked tree at Rona last winter, and it really wasn't that expensive...certainly not $999.99 --- more in the $200 range if I remember correctly - you might want to take a look there and see if they have the same tree this year!

What a beautiful girl. Your photo shoots are always sooo good, and I like them better than the original shots many times :)

Why is it that as crafty as I want to be I could never of imagined those ornaments looking like yours? Genious.

I'm exhausted after I read your post!! Although, glad you had a nap in there.

Loopy is so beautiful... really adorable in that hat! Aren't daughters wonderful?? I love my two so much!!

I saw the most beautiful flocked white tree covered with hundreds and zillions (at least) of red and white checked bows. Sooooo pretty.
It would look great with my Scandinavian theme I'm using for decorating this year.

I would love your bear and give it a good home. I have my daughter's bear collection here with such wonders as Lauren Bearcall & Humphrey Beargart and many, many more. We dragged a Bobby Bear home from London and he was sooooo big he had to have a seat of his own on the plane... and seeing the plane wasn't full he got one.
Hugs with glitter on them!

Looks like you and Loopy had a great time once again! The camera is so very kind to her. She's such a lovely girl. As time goes by I'm sure she will only become more self confident and beautiful. You reminded me, we need to take a trip to Forever 21! Love the prices and the girls love the clothes!

Wonderful colors for Christmas! By the way, do you have a Christmas tree in the bathroom? I am determined to put one on top of the floor cabinet in the main bathroom this year! In Pink no less since it's also the girls bathroom : )

Loopy's pictures are awesome, I can definitely see the similarities between the Forever 21 picture and hers. And I can't believe you made a Harry Potter tree! I hope to run across pictures of that in the blog.
