The Zombie Jar Swap Blog is up and running for swap members to enjoy... non-members can still participate with comments and questions! We filled up to 16 members nicely but I will take a name or two for the waiting list over the next couple of days just in case... you never know. Send me your info by email (in my post below) if you are interested in the waiting list.

And now... Sir Elton John. Last night Veto took us all to see Sir Elton live. It was amazing, of course. No, this isn't my picture... I found it on Google Images - but that is what he was wearing so you get the gist of it. I chickened out and didn't take my camera after all.

The concert was exceptional, just because it was Elton John live and in person. Musically it was really fantastic, he played a fairly wide range from his catalogue but mostly stuck to his more lively, rock and blues style of tunes for the evening. I think that was a good thing for us, because we took our dear friend Claire along, her loving husband John passed away only a few weeks ago (that was the funeral I was away at). It was so good to be out with her but of course Elton John was one of his favourite artists so I was a little worried that the sad songs would be too much for all of us. As it happens, Sir Elton was in the mood to dazzle the crowd with his prowess on the keyboards and really got to rocking and rolling and taking the music in different directions. The only really difficult part was during "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"... of course Veto, Claire and I were all fairly misty but Claire and I broke right down and there were tears just squirting out of our eyes and we just held our arms around each other and we were actually cheek-to-cheek by the end of the song.

I suppose that is the magical healing power of music, isn't it? Sometimes it's just good to let it go, to let it all out. After that, we smiled and tapped our feet and really enjoyed the show. I will always think of our friend John when I hear that song.

I will give Sir Elton just short of a full compliment of cupcakes... but not as many as I gave James Taylor... and of course, I gave him real homemade cupcakes, didn't I?
